I was fortunate when I changed mine, I didn't disconnect the negative terminal on the battery and I had no problems.

The "Dome" lights were the hardest to remove. Of course, there's thin metal surrounding the bulb so I made sure to use something non-contact when I was messing in that area. I think I used duct tape.

You may have to check your fuse box.

    @bimmerlev

    Cool!

I'm contemplating whether to go with 17" or 18" wheels. I definitely like how your tires poke out a little...lol!

EDIT: The 18" wheels will weigh more so it's probably a good idea to stick with 17s.

Yup, you have the prewire in the OR trim of your year. If you get the OEM bed lights it's a 20 minute job. Probably 7 minutes the second time you do it or if you know more than I did :) .

Picked up 2 cans of crc brake clean, 1 can of VHT engine primer and 1 can VHT satin black to service/repaint the drums. My drums have been squealing like a pig lately. :lalala:

I just went through that last week. Adding to what others have said:
    1. Wrap the bulb in tape to pull it out. Takes seconds instead of swear-laden minutes.
    2. If it's just the dome and not the maps, switch the polarity
    3. If it's both dome and map, you blew the 7.5 fuse under the steering wheel. And no, none of the spares are 7.5. Go shopping for fuses and pick up some other tools/parts while your at it :)

    YES!

The Map Lights are the ones where there is the thin metal. The rest of the lights were so much easier to remove/replace.

What made me go with 17”s and not any larger is the fact you get a little more rubber if you’re going to be airing down at all. I like the poke on his truck too and wanted to get a larger offset to achieve a poke but ultimately the wheels I liked didn’t have that offset and I stayed away from spacers.

Why do you guys insist on doing the map lights from the wrong side? Just pull the console down and do it from the back side, how it was designed to be done.

But like anything, it’s your truck. What I’ve done isn’t what everyone is going to like. Whatever makes you happy and how you’re going to use the truck. My first gen 4runner has 16” wheels with 33s and 1.5” spacers. I have 6” lift on it so the tires look pretty small but when off-road the wheels tuck really good into the fenders, a lot of flex. My Tacoma is mainly just a pavement pounder with fire roads thrown in for camping and hunting.

the truck you were asking about looks absolutely amazing…you got that right for sure!

Thank you… I was going to say the same thing. It’s such a cake walk this way. Just pull the panel like you mean it and disconnect the wires connected to it. Then the bulbs just twist out. Takes like two minutes

Few interior mods. Meso Custom start button and center console trim, and some Tufskinz door trim.
