    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
I guess I'll post this here... Seems to be the best place to put it.

I'm starting to plan out some trips for next year. Fordyce... what's the best way to plan in advance around the water flows? I know you can check them on pages, but I have a group I'm planning for and we are trying to (somewhat) lock in dates.

Totally get the conditions can change. Biggest question is we're looking at August. That is the same month as Sierra Trek. I know they lower the flows for Sierra Trek. Is there a higher likelihood the flows will be up, right after Sierra Trek? (meaning I'd want to avoid both those weeks)

@theesotericone may have some info on this.

Dreamflows can only give you an idea of the past. If water levels are higher, flow rates may be as well. You can monitor what PG&E says about rates since they set them.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you. That chart does kind of show a dip around Sierra Trek and then a rise the week after. Totally understand it all depends on water/snow/etc levels.

I think we are going to plan FOrdyce as Plan A with Barrett Lake as a back up

You should be able to find the flow rate info on the PG&E site somewhere. Just keep checking :)

Ya, that's the plan. But we're going to lock in dates now. If we have Barrett as a back up, we know for sure we'll be able to do one or the other.

@ian408 gave you a great resource with Dreamflows. You can also check Friends of Frodyce in Facebook. The biggest thing is the dam work. If it's still ongoing you should have low flows as long as you do it before PGE goes to winter levels in late OCT. Mostly just go and do it.

Most people fear the water crossings because of all those vids of buggies doing them at 500CFM. In truth, they are by far the easiest part of the trail.

Met up with a buddy from CO in Joshua Tree and Alabama Hills this past weekend for some camping and wheeling. Started off with some shooting in Berdoo Canyon. This was my first time shooting a handgun and had a lot of fun with that. Then headed through Berdoo and into Joshua Tree to camp. We had our BMX bikes with us in case we came across some skateparks, but realistically didn’t have the time. I did manage to get a quick session in messing around in the desert in Joshua Tree just for fun. Berdoo is an easy and fun road with a couple challenging spots due to tight squeezes. Took off the following day to head to Alabama Hills. Got there a bit late so we just setup camp and sat around a fire. There is so much to explore there, but unfortunately we only had about an hour to explore the following morning before we had to take off. Definitely planning on heading back, but will probably wait for warmer weather. The temps in the low 20s were a bit brutal haha.

I was driving past the latest closed down strip mall with barbed wire around it when I noticed a couple of sweet jumps. Made from true homeless people stuff. Nobody riding them tho.

Grimy setups like that are always the best haha! When I lived in the northeast there was a yearly BMX event with ramps made from literal garbage. Always such a fun time, but you definitely don’t want to fall down

Bone Deth, never made it out to the ghetto jams either. But the Bone Deth jams were wild. First one was at FDR in Philly 2005. A dude got paid $20 to get beat up and he threw a dead goose at an ice cream man. That should pretty much set the scene

Yeah, that sounds about right. Never did meet Sean Burns.

Or, if I did, I don't remember it.
