DC fast charging is still the preference, unless there is a hotel.

Not the point, like this whole thread you act like everyone has convenient options.

Can speculate anything further, given the lack of information.

It's an open thread, and I was following up on an earlier post to give an update. Dont need you defending everything like a religious zealot, we get it.

I have to assume that it’s these 4 Tesla destination chargers that you’re talking about since they don’t show up on PlugShare any more. Based on the reviews, it sounds like a lot of the hardware wasn’t working. I’ve seen this many times traveling where people just throw charging cables on the ground where they get run over, mostly with free charging. They could be replacing them with a paid solution that tracks credit cards or letting other businesses deal with it.

I’m glad I didn’t keep holding out for a max pack now.

As soon as they announced the dual motor max pack, I thought the chances of the quad motor max pack happening went down dramatically.

What does one of these long range low price point trucks cost?

Not low price point, lower price point. An important distinction. The dual motor max pack is $8k cheaper than the previously configurable quad motor max pack.

I just checked Rivians site. A truck with Max pack starts at $89K.
How long until they run out of customers willing to pay that much for a truck? They’re going to have to come up with something reasonably priced at some point.

I don’t think they will have too much difficulty. People buy expensive luxury vehicles regularly and the Rivian fits in that mold pretty well. It might be marketed as a great adventure vehicle but that’s the same way BMW markets their heavy and expensive 1250GSA bikes that very few people can actually handle on off-road adventures and really spend a lot of time at Starbucks.
