I know I'm quite a bit older than both of you and I don't have any of these problems. 2-3 wipes and done.

Occasionally I'll unknowingly cut one in half...then It's like frosting a cake.

    Morning

Prepping for this major storm Friday.
Only thing left to do now is hook the cable to the house.
Really bad timing as my wife’s sister’s funeral is Friday.
Winds are going to be the worse at that time.
Friggin sucks losing 3 family members in 5 months..
There is a tree down the road up rooted from the last storm. It’s sitting at a 40° angle and it’s huge.
If it comes down, I figure about 35 homes won’t have access to their homes for at least a couple of days.
The last time it happened we were lucky and I was at work so I was on the other side. So used the truck to get fuel and groceries and used our old van to transport from the trees and wires to the house.
People had no clue how to deal with it..
So, prep people… we have shit coming..

Man, I'm sorry you're having a rough go, and sorry for your wife as well.

As for the storm stuff, prep is good! Hopefully your neighbors learned from watching you last time and will be better able to handle stuff this time around.

My new young neighbor next door had a gen installed. No one else has one on my end.
We are going grocery shopping tomorrow instead of Friday.
Gen is full. 6 extra gallons of fuel.

Geez @Tacoma Mike I'd think you're close enough to civilization that they'd get that tree down. Hope you avoid too much drama. And sorry about your family. If it's true these things happen in three's, hopefully you're done for a while.

    Gettin' old ain't for pussies.

    Happy Wednesday folks. Almost there.

Going to poke round and look at a few places that sell Utility Trailers. Considering picking one up for those times I need to haul lumber. Prefer aluminum...but $$$. Thinking 5x8 or 6x12.

Most I'm seeing have that large ramp on the back. I don't want/need that.

6x12 because more room is better than not enough. And that drop down ramp can be a real time saver, especially if it keeps you from having to step up and down with heavy loads.

I was thinking shorter ramp so I could extend long lumber on both front and back (if needed).

I saw somebody in town had one and they rigged up a latch/chain setup to lower the ramp to horizontal and lock it there. That way they could have an extra 5 or so feet of "deck" if they needed. Definitely would cause some weight distribution problems if not careful.

pop the hinges on the long ramp? Easier on the aluminum for sure.

I've seen some with a 2 section folding ramp that sits nearly flush with the side panels (which I'd like to have). Don't want a completely flat trailer.
