If anyone comes across a dcsb 2nd gen cap in mgm or black give me a holler.

 

A few reasons. Mainly that my wife really doesn’t like the ride and this has required a lot of my free time. I want to let this go and then later in 2023 either pick up a 2nd Gen Tacoma, 4th Gen 4Runner or 100 series Land Cruiser. After off-roading my dad’s built 80 series, I can confidently say that thing is far superior than my truck in every aspect. I figured to have a 3rd vehicle at this point in our lives, it needs to be multipurpose and this truck doesn’t fit our current needs

 

Maybe I’ll take the cap off and hold it for you Critter

 

Yep, offroading in a 80 series will make you realize how superior and over engineered they truly are. Their capabilities even in stock form is surprising, you build'em right they're unstoppable.

 

I feel spoiled after driving it! Maybe it’s the coil suspension that I like so much

Almost 500k on its original drivetrain, 3.4L auto trans 4x4. I bought this truck from the original owner here on TW with a bit over 400k miles. It came with a file of maintenance records. I told the seller please tell me there's a receipt in here for a replacement motor. He proudly said nope, its all original. I paid $600 for it 5 or 6 years ago. My buddy & fellow TW member Mobtown Joe cut out a spot of rust on the frame and welded in a patch. My stepson drove it to college and work for a couple years and I've been driving it ever since, it's never let us down. Don't even have to add oil between oil changes.

 

Hope the brakes dont freeze up! I’ve had it happen to my drums several times

I've been winter offroading since back in the mid 90's and I've never had that happen to me. Watch now it will happen...

 

I'm getting some mental therapy while enjoying this beautiful weather today.

 

I think I might start posting pics of OUR lives...you know...stuck in traffic. basic front lawns. Heating oil tanks. HOAs. "Fresh" air.

It's pure jealousy - believe me!

I did something similar... every year, I dress up as Santa and ride the neighborhood handing out candy ans collecting food donations for the local food bank. Working on trying to make the truck a bit more festive every year, but I have so much other stuff that needs my attention, I hardly have the time or money for helpful mods like a bumper to mount reindeer, rock lights, etc. It'll get there eventually...

I remember reading that a Toyota design requirement for a LC was that it is meant to survive 200K miles in SEVERE Driving conditions ( Think about the way that the UN uses them ). I need to find one, or a replacement frame for my 4runner. I literally poked a hole in the bottom of the frame the other day, it has gotten really bad over the past year.
