Hey y'all, I'm hearing some whining under my truck when I drive in colder weather. I am thinking it is the driveshaft making the noise because it is coming from underneath the truck and the noise comes on when the truck gets around 40 mph. I put a GoPro underneath the truck to find where the sound was coming from and from three different videos I have concluded that the sound is coming from the carrier bearing or maybe near it. I have the video attached and you can hear the pitch of the whine increase as the truck speeds up, and the pitch of the whine decrease as the truck slows down. I just rebuilt the driveshaft last year because the u-joints were destroyed and went ahead and replaced the carrier bearing as well. Could it be a bad carrier bearing out of the box? Has anyone experienced this before? What do y'all think it is?

How many miles are on the truck? (and if you are not the original owner - how many miles have you put on it?)

I'm having something similar happen. Check the play in the carrier bearing as well. Currently my driveshaft (in the bearing area) has an inch or so. A.k.a super not good. I'll be buying another oem one. Aftermarket one lasted maybe 25k miles.

Rear leaf suspension. Home done tailgate re-inforcement.
My universals went out at about 110k. The rear one froze and caused a lot of what you are describing.

Does the noise come and go as you accelerate/decelerate?
