Worked just as you said, thanks! Built my wifes PC Monday after work, and then gave it its first boot/windows install last night after work. Everythings working as it should as far as I could tell!

Here’s a pic of her unicorn throw up. All leds are set to a static white/light blue now to match all her white stuff.

Seems the general consensus (reddit, and other platforms) is that the 3080 runs pretty hot; I average a high of 79 C and idle at 47 C.

Sometimes consider throwing everything into a new case as I bought the wrong case and didn't realize it until 2 months later when I finally opened the box

But the CPU idles at 29 C and maxes out at 51 C so really I'm ok?

Just not used to having such a warm running GPU.

    Stock.

I did download and mess with the fan curve a bit using MSI afterburner, then uninstaller it to try EVGA's tool (forget what it is) but that one's weird.

Guess I'm just trying to confirm with 3080 users here since the rando's on the internet agree.

I’m no help with first hand experience, but my old rx580 ran that hot and I just ended up undervolting and an aggressive fan curve.

My neighbor did that; he builds PC's, does networking, security installs and more (owns his own business).

He had the 3080 on water before switching to a 3090TI on water. He assembled it, put some good paste on, and dropped it off one night.

I'm really considering a new case but hate the idea of pulling everything apart again. I'm running an NZXT 510. I thought I got the one with the open front, only to realize it pulls air from the side and bottom.

As someone who mined for a while, 79c occasionally while under load would not concern me in the slightest. If you were over 90 I'd be thinking new case or re-pad.

I hooked up the oculus and played some Flight simulator this evening and noticed that my frame rates are pretty bad, I didn’t log the data from AMD Adrenaline but I feel like it should be performing better than this.
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
    GPU: AMD 6700XT
    Ram: 32GB 3200mhz (I think it’s 3200, not positive)
MoBo: B550, not sure which board.

I would expect either the CPU or GPU to be pegged and ideally frame rates closer to 60FPS.

Also the graphical quality isn’t very high, hard to see a runway from over half a mile away, before (last time I had it set up was over 6 months ago) the quality was very good.

    Thanks.

Like I said, many reported that 83 is pretty normal under full load; just rather confirm that here and you just did that.

I hit 82-83 a week ago playing Flight Simulator for a few hours.

Playing COD MW2 I'll max at 79 after several hours.

I was about to say, you're running a 510. It's known to be a "hot" case. There isn't enough airflow with the limited intake room to get the best temperature numbers. That being said your temperatures are still well under safe and I wouldn't justify a case change or repaste unless it's something that really bugs you. Personally, with those temps, I'd keep clam and play on until I wanted to make a change for other reasons.

CPU usage will not be at 100% unless a game can max out every core, and that's not how games work yet. The main thread will always max out, and at 40% of a six core CPU I'd say that's happening, while the others get lower priority portions of the game.

Flight Sim is a tougher game than most would believe to run. I think you're in the ballpark with your specs for expected frame rate.
