200K (actually 204K) Miles on my 2019 Tacoma...Very Happy so far

I posted at 100K - figured I'd chime in on my 200K. I bought the truck new on Jan 2019.

I've had a couple of recall items - don't remember the items but I know they were done during my normal service. I am replacing my front brakes today (I have 204K miles), I've put in a new battery (few months ago) - other than that just routine service. I have all of our service done at a nearby dealership.

A considerable amount of my miles are in 4WD...nothing strenuous or challenging, just day to day tasks. I own a horse farm and it is boarded by a river so I'm in wet mud/ground all the time.

This is not our only vehicle - but you can tell by the mileage this is my daily driver. The size of the truck is great for my needs.89E010BC-0ADE-4DFD-BDFD-9852979C7958.jpg I've always had larger/full size trucks, but when I bought this I wanted a more maneuverable truck. The size of the Tacoma allows me to take it on trails on and around our property.

I think the truck is a great value and it's been great for me so far. I don't take a lot of pictures - but I took this fairly recently - when we bought my wife a new 4Runner...she will not be posting a high mileage update as she's a stay at home housewife...I put more miles in 3 months as she will in a full year HAHAHA.

    Oh look, another mod....

I love hearing stories like this. That's a great looking truck. I looked up this truck in KBB (with your specs & mileage), and it's STILL worth $17k.

Awesome! Despite what a few Negative Nellies bleat on around here, the 3rd gen is just another typical Toyota. That is a good thing and what I'm expecting from these trucks including my own. Nothing is perfect but I love these trucks.

Crazy how they hold their value...my son has a 2002 with just under 300K miles...my BF bought it new and sold it to my son a few years ago.

Did you change fluids on everything at 1k or do anything out of the ordinary during the first 10k?

If I had to guess I’d say since it was maintained by the dealer it didn’t see a 1k fluid change.

My 26 year old 4runner has 233K on it. OP will hit that in a few more months at his rate! Glad to hear it’s been a great truck for you. This forum seems to have a lot of people convinced Toyota doesn’t care about their reputation for reliability and quality anymore after all these decades. But for every problem you read about, there are 1000 Tacomas without that problem (and will never have it). TW is sort of an echo chamber for that stuff. I’m confident in 10-15 more years, when most of us are hitting 200K+, the vast majority of our trucks will still be purring like kittens. Hell, I just took the old 4runner in for it’s bi-annual smog check and the tech said it’s easily the cleanest ‘90s vehicle he’s ever tested. None of my emissions numbers were remotely close to the max limits on the print-out… like 10%. While I was there the tech was telling another guy that his 2012 F150 with 75K failed smog while the ol’ shitbox sailed thru like nothing.

I'm usually pretty light driving the first 3-5K miles on vehicles....not hard accelerations, long road trips etc. As for fluids - The only thing I did was change the oil at 1K miles...no reason it's just something I do/have done with all of our vehicles (first 50 hours on tractors, utvs, atvs, motorcycles).

I do change my oil every 5K miles...not necessary, but again it is something I have always done.

My 2008 Corolla was the same way. Id bring it to the dealer to have its annual inspection. They couldn't get over how clean it was under the hood and how clean it ran. Was the perfect car until my kid drove it into a guardrail in back in October. I was pro active with all fluids. Did the early oil change. Drain and refill transmission once a year. ( had drain plug- was easy as shit ). Drain and refill antifreeze every 2/3 years. Harbor freight bottle pump to suck out brake fluid and power steering fluid. PVC replacements/Cleaning with brake cleaner. Did the Throttle body cleaning and MAF cleaning. Spark plug removal/cleaning. Replaced them once. Overall it wasn't too hard to keep on top of it , and the expense was minimal. Hoping the same goes with my Taco.
