Any ideas what to check for this random stops? 156,000 miles. On cold days (30F) my wipers will stop working after 1 motion. I leave my truck parked at work and wipers will work with no issues afterwards. Wiper motor going bad? Couldn't be the fuse could it?

Edit: Checked 30A fuse (inside fuse box) and it looked ok.

Not a fuse issue, I would disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector and reconnect it, there may not be good contact when it gets really cold if the pins shrink ever so slightly.

When you say one motion... do they go up, come back down & park correctly, then stop? Or do they go up, and stop somewhere wrong?

That is correct. Wipers go up, come back down, and parks correctly. Then they stop working.

Thanks, I'm checking this now. Would this be under the cowl?

Edit: looked OK but I will clean and reconnect it.

My guess is the grease in the wiper motor gearbox then? Unless they changed to solid-state/hall effect (which could be the case, been a minute since I opened one up, and even then would've been from the late 90s probably) self-parking wipers use a switch that opens when the shaft gets to the right spot to park. My guess would be that switch hanging up & not re-closing.

Sketchy connector pins are also a possibility, IMO not likely, but definitely not entirely impossible. When I bought my truck it had had the backup cam unplugged for who knows how long, without the dummy plug installed to cover the truck-side connector... my backup cam definitely sketched out in the cold, although that's also a low-draw, 6v circuit.

Hmm, I'm guessing you're talking about the linkage? Here is the components involved if that helps.

Not quite... on the motor (which isn't just a motor, it's a motor, running a gearbox, ran by an electromechanical module) the 'brains' of it are behind a black cover, opposite the output shaft that runs the linkage. I haven't taken a Tacoma one apart, but it appears to be held on the gearbox with some metal clips.

I tried to find a good pic, but I'm on my phone & no website I've tried is cooperating, and I'm too lazy to keep trying.

Edit: yep, see, tried to preview to see if my pic worked, it did not, now it won't go away
