As some of you know, I posted the other day regarding a leak.
Still trying to figure it out and getting very frustrated.

In the mean time, I need to pull my carpet up to let it dry this weekend.

If I remove seats, do I need to disconnect battery or be cautious of airbag popping when I disconnect? Or any other procedures when I do bolt seat back in?

    Thank you in advance.

If your side plastic is in good shape, be extra careful with em. My drivers side was perfect till I took it out. I think I grabbed it funny and it cracked. I think someone on here sells a reinforcing kit for that piece. Might look into that while you have them out.

Appreciate the advice greatly. Honestly if I can solve this leak I’m fine with the other minor problems caused during the fix. Debating whether I should just pay someone to find it for me losing my patience and mind.

I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
Sometimes it rusts out around the windshield. That's a far off posability

Had windshield replaced 3 months ago. But I can’t recreate the leak. I snaked AC condensate drain. I can’t find the leak in windshield. It’s only on passenger side. It’s not coolant so can’t be heater core. So I’m confused honestly

My daughter’s RAV4 leaks during a heavy rain on the passenger side. The water can overwhelm the drainage options under the cowl cover. I think it’s where the fresh air might come in if you don’t have the a/c on recirculate.

Have you been ignoring it or trying to find a fix or maybe found a fix? I want to ignore it but scared of rust, mold, etc.

If it’s leaking somewhere, you need to try and figure it out. Otherwise it’ll haunt ya and taint your Tacoma experience. Take the passenger seat out, lay on your back with your head under the dash, and have someone blast- flood the cowl area with a water hose. You might even remove the glove box first. The piece of mind is worth the effort. Good luck.

If it's on the passenger side, check the little hose where the passenger feet go. That's where the AC water is shot out from. Sometimes that little hose gets kicked off and any water in there just drains onto the passenger floor.

You should always disconnect your battery when working with anything airbag related

    Ok got it. Will do.

How do I remove glovebox? I tried squeezing the ends together but it’s not coming out and don’t wanna break any clips

The water isn’t up top. I checked during break at work and couldn’t find a hose. I’ll check again with a flashlight when I get back home. The water isn’t up top of the footwell though. It’s more so where the padding is right in front of the seat

Post in your regional forum and see if someone local to you can lend a hand.

One leak finding method is being pitch black in the cab and a bright light outside. Light will come through just like water. Takes 2 people of course.

Replace your weather seals on the doors. Soup to nuts, probably a 2 hour job + curing time if there's adhesive.

Otherwise smoke it out something like this. Can probably find one somewhere to use instead of buying your own.

airbags - I have a turd gen, BUT I have taken the passenger seat out/put back in twice now - and both times i forgot to disconnect the battery. Both times it's been fine on disconnect/connection.

Ok so basically should be fine without disconnecting battery?

I would disconnect the battery if you have the tools and it's not corroded together. It's a simple task and takes a minute. It's worth it. I'm just stupid and forgot to 4 times now :D if it was a more involved task wing it, but this? Whatever.

Thing is whenever I disconnect or connect the battery, the previous owners aftermarket alarm goes off so loud and I have to keep clicking unlock on fob. Don’t wanna piss off neighbors lol

    But I’ll disconnect lol

It is very hard to recreate a leak with your truck sitting .

Water hitting the vehicle at 50MPH is quite different then when parked .

Do your seats have air bags installed ?

Mine do not so I have had the seats out many times to install or remove the radio.

Hard to troubleshoot with no electric to the system.
