Tesla style head unit

Thanks, I checked the plug under the rear bumper and seems to be fine, I'll probably clean and add some dielectric grease. When I have a day off work I will pull the head unit out and check all the connections hopefully it's just that!

 

It is both the hard button and the software button works once the temp is adjusted.

 

Hi, new here. Just got this unit in. It's the newer one with the 8 core and 3 inputs for antenna/gps. It's the JBL edition for my 2012 Tacoma TRD. I was able to get everything working except sound. At max volume, I can hear it very faintly. Any idea what's going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I did this not once, not twice but three times. once I had muted the speakers in my phone setting and the other two times in my E.Q. settings.

 

Thanks! I reinstalled the factory radio to make sure the speakers still work and found that disconnecting the battery might have reset the amp for some reason. After setting the speakers back to normal and installing the new deck it started working. I didn't disconnect the battery this time.

SOOOOOOO after reading 56 pages of posts spanning multiple years. I want to say that the price of this unit as well as the one listed on Amazon for hundreds more (but with a full one year warranty) is significantly more than the Phoenix Audion version and several hundred more than even the biggesat joying (11.6) units out there. Now I think the joying unit looks a bit whack sideways, but you kep all the factory controls this way ( better for problems wit the software and integration). My question is what makes this unit worth the extra cash? As far as I can tell these units are virtually identical as far as the Android system everything else is stacked on top of. As of the writing of this, I see the Joying at $515 plus tax and shipping, The Aucar at $909 (are there any codes that work to kick this down), and the Phoenix unit at $789.00 (these are all the 8g 128g units for apples to apple's sake. I can't say that the AUcar and the Phoenix Audio units offer much more than a bit of a sexier look to them compared to the sideways Joying (it keeps the factory controls, but looks wonky). Otherwise, these are all the same pig, just different shades on their lips, right. I am leaning towards the Joying at this point. What'd be nice is for some of y'all to put a favorites list of the apps and what you use them for (if its not obvi). Also, what may work on all three (adapters, harness, apps, etc) I'm an apple guy so, it'd be nice to get a good idea of what works.

I know this is a bit much for a first post, but I've been through over 1100 posts without "skipping ahead". I know there's alot of you guys that have tested and worked many hours to provide this information to us all and for that, I thank you very much. It has helped.

Does anyone know if sergeys firmware fixes the zlink disconnects for carplay? Or display issues with Spotify, thanks!

 

Ordered one of the new models and threw it in but haven't had time to connect everything or do much to the android environment yet. Have to say when you get the EQ dialed in the sound quality is really good (Focals and JL Audio setup). Looking forward to adding apps I use in the wilderness and customizing things.

----NEW 2022 Model AUCAR Firmware----
Dec 15 update
Fixed resolution with CarPlay in Split screen mode.
Fixed issue with Wireless Android auto not connecting
Added Backup app to view reverse camera anytime
Added FOTO System updater - have not used yet

1. Download file, do not change the name do not unzip. The name should be "update_e.zip" ~1.2gb
2. Save to root folder of flash drive.(confirm flash drive can be read by radio first)
3. Plug into one of the USB ports, System updater should automatically pop up.
4. Click update, unit will reset when complete. I needed to reload my wallpaper and re-pair bluetooth.



-----AC Hot Cold Swap-----
If you have this issue on the new 2022 model I happened to come across a fix.

If you hold the front panel defrost button(right side third one down) for about 10 seconds then let it go. It will swap the temperature settings to make hot cold and cold hot.

I stumbled across this while changing the bezel on my radio I changed back and forth a few times to confirm it works.

Post if you find anything else that was added or changed.

 

Did they fix the backup camera/cel problem? Not that I would "upgrade" as I don't think these are worth 1/2 of the price.

 

Someone with an automatic will need to update and check. I never had a CEL issue. Mine is a manual, I think the issue is only with automatics.

It probably has something to do with the OBDII plug. I wondering if unplugging it will fix the issue. But this might affect the back up camera as some models use the OBDII for the reverse signal.

I've had issues in the past with cheap ODBII dongles causing codes on my dash.

 

It is an automatic. It's not the odbii, its the unit not turning off the camera when switching from reverse to park, cel, traction control and abs off.

 

Yes, it was an automatic. It wasn't happening when I did anything specific, just there when shit ODBII was plugged in, and disappeared when not plugged in (after restarting truck). I got Traction and ABS lights only

 

Has to be the OBDII connector. The camera is not hooked to the CANBUS system its hooked directly to the radio, you could unplug it and it would not give a CEL or code. The whole radio is not connected to the CANBUS so it should have no affect on CEL. The OBDII is the only interface between the radio and the trucks computer.

If I remember correctly the camera is always powered. So its a radio issue of not switching back from the camera to the main screen.

What year is the truck?. Did anyone scan it to see what codes popped up?

I sent it out an extra one I had to Panda Fab to have it overlayed.

 

I unplugged the odbii and I cannot replicate it anymore. That's a giant relief.
