    Oh yeah, scratched it real good. Dad had plowed the field that fall and there was a rock sticking up out of the snow. We made it a point to try and sling the people on the sled over the rock. I think she was in it when she realized we was scratching it :anonymous:

    Morning. In the 70's, we went sledding on an old VW bug hood. We graduated to truck inner tubes. We rode those things for years. Didn't die. We also only had gravity in WV. No pulling via truck or other vehicle. Best thing about inner tubes was it could be used in winter and summer.
    Today, there is a billion dollar tourism industry on the New and Gauley rivers in WV. You pay several hundred dollars and you get a seat in a raft piloted by a professional guide. You wear helmets, mouth guards and a life jacket. You are strapped into the boat for 11 miles.
    In the late 70's, we would do that same section of river on truck inner tubes. Our wardrobe was cutoffs and our safety gear was chuck Taylors to keep from hitting your feet on the rocks.
    We did not die there either, although you really needed to know how to swim.
