Hello! The Qi wireless pad in my ‘21 has a bubble in the rubber. Maybe from the heat? Is this a know problem? I’ve never used it as I have an iPhone 7 (no wireless charging feature). Also it only has 21k miles, so wondering if the dealer would fix for free.

I would imagine the dealer would fix it… I don’t see why not but doesn’t hurt to ask them. I know there’s been other threads on this issues bc I remember reading something about the pad being good for only keeping a burrito warm lol. I don’t use the wireless charger bc it gets really hot.

Up until last week when I upgraded from an iPhone 8 to a 13 I was using my charger all the time and it worked on the old phone with no problems. Now it won't charge the iPhone 13 Pro Max with or without the Otterbox Symmetry case. My guess is the lenses for the new camera keep it raised just enough so it won't make contact. You can get it fixed (I would since it's under warranty) but it may be of no use anyway.

    Oh look, another mod....
I had this happen about 2 months back. There's a TSB for it, you're covered......regardless of your mileage or age of your vehicle.

    A few.
Tsb isnt the same as a recall. They only apply if u are still within the warranty period.

Sorry to bring up an old thread...I have the same exact issue. I am sitting in the Toyota waiting lobby as we speak to wait on a service advisor to tell me if it is covered under warranty. Thankfully I came across this thread with the service bulletin when they try and charge me $800. I have the bulletin pulled up waiting for them to come out. I am at 35,985 miles...And 3 years will be in January.

If this is such a common issue why doesn't Toyota recall it? Is there a place we can go and send in a complaint? Thanks!

    Nice mileage.

Pro Tip: Since you’re there I’d have them check over the entire truck. Just tell them you “hear a wobbling noise when reaching 35mph.” I did this even though I had no issues when my 2nd gen warranty was about to expire and they checked the suspension, engine, transmission, tires, etc. They ended up finding a torn boot on the LCA that they replaced under warranty that saved me $1200.

Great tip, thank you! I am waiting anxiously for them to come out and say this isn't covered...We will see.

I took mine apart and just used double sided tape. I never use the charging there anymore because it sucks but overall appearance is so much better than the annoying bubble

    * Update

The dealer fixed it under warranty and said they didn’t know why it happened. They had no clue about the service bulletin and was very happy I could provide it to them. He was bringing it up to his service manager and also attaching the TSB number to my account. He said hopefully this will turn into a recall.

Yeah, my dealership played dumb too. The Service Manager actually said "There's a TSB on that part? First I'm hearing about it." But the tech told me "Yeah bro, I've replaced a lot of these.

No biggie though, it was free and I got to eat some (free) delicious muffins in their waiting room while they did the work.

I would be careful letting someone fix it because probably 5 out of 10 times they are going to #$%^& something else up!Scratches on console, greasy shoes on the carpet you name it,it is going to happen!Just my 2cents worth.

This is why I repair things myself if I’m able to. The service techs aren’t going to care about things like scuffs on interior panels.

Yeah dude. I got the extended warranty for my 2nd gen ( 7yrs/100k miles) when I first bought it and never used it the entire time.

I wasn’t about to let Toyota off the hook and just “give” them $1000 like that. I figured worst case they don’t find anything and I have peace of mind that my truck was in tip top condition, or they find something and it pays for the warranty.
