Bubinga and Wenge are my favorite exotic woods. Though, you can't go wrong with some best figure curly maple...

Man I don’t know what the price for purple heart is for you guys but I can’t afford more than splinters of that wood :rofl:

I’ve been working with Black Limba lately and really love the grain pattern.

I shop at Keim Lumber here locally, they do sell online. Their Purple Heart wasn't that expensive last I looked. I tried to make a US Flag display out of Purple Heart, but I couldn't get it clamped correctly.

Also gonna stain these mountains. Put some conditioner on them a couple hours ago. Got a sample piece at the bottom to test before I put on the colors. :fingerscrossed:

If you have a Woodcraft near you they have periodic sale. For small projects it's not bad.

The smaller the board.. the more expensive.. if you have a saw and a planer.. you can buy a larger board and mill it down to what you need.

Ok there is a video on youtube. I know, I know, dude says hey if you put purpleheart in the oven it stays bright purple all the way thru.
    Yeah maybe it does.

It warps the crappin stuff all to hell too.

    Dont fall for it.

Yes it is bright purple, but you cant use it for anything but pen blanks and they gotta be way oversized.

Also woodcraft usually has a 8.99 a b.f. sale at least once a year. Go to the physical store. The got the good stuff there.

You can take a heat gun to it after you’ve worked with it and it will purple up. I made some maple, ebony, and purpleheart rings that responded really well to a short hit with the heat gun.

I’ve also heard that it responds really well to UV light - just being out in the sun can help bring the color back out.

My fiancé gave me a branding iron for Christmas a few years ago. I've never owned a branding iron before!

Great question! I think would have a hard time picking something logo related, so I might go with an animal I like with an M somewhere on it or in the design. Maybe an elephant or a narwhal? :notsure: open to suggestions.

Only concern is if I put an M pattern in his shell, he'll look like the university of Maryland logo.

With a First Name of "Pond Princess" and a subtitle under your name of "I like turtles" I would suggest something like this:

That's very cute!!! The name "pond princess" was bestowed upon me by other members of the forum this earlier this year. I've built a couple and have done a good bit of work to make them flourish. :) I have always liked turtles! I've raised and released a several. I've tried introducing some to the pond, but they've migrated to the river nearby. :turtleride:

But you guys may be on to something.:fistbump:
