It's expensive to be that cheap -- and stupid...

 

I was told this story by the Mack Truck sales manager for that account.

He heard that this great idea came from the bean counters and was fought by the Shop managers who lost.

 

Neither will mine it seems.

I don't actually have a bank account -- it's just a temporary pausing point for money.

 

That is where that magic phrase "I need you to put that in writing" gets used before implementation of the bone headed idea.

 

That was the best part They had the paper work to back things up.

Had them dead to rights for being stupid!

One of the very few perks of my old job was that nobody over me had so much as 5 minutes experience in industrial maintenance so I was allowed to do what I thought was right and never challenged about the materials used.

 

Meanwhile, this capsule is traveling across country by motorcade and Nasa says it cant be in temperatures under 35 degrees. They are currently in Yuma, Az waiting for the cold to keep moving...

Better safe than sorry , only takes a second to unwrap. They have us in NW Florida going down into the teens and low 20s till Monday, high isn’t above freezing Friday-Sunday and sandy is only showing 33 right now. Your weather report sounds way better than mine.

 

Wasn’t it well below 35 in space as it went to the moon and back? I would think terrestrial temperature would be ok after the cold soak it endured

 

There's potential damage to the heat shield from re-entry.

 

And they can’t ship it in an enclosed, environmentally controlled trailer

Still a lot of mess but this is actually clean for him.
