What size tire can I go up to with a cab mount chop? I’ve got 265/75/16 but will go bigger on the next set of tires.

I may upgrade from 5100’s on stock springs too.

285’s usually but a lot guys have gotten away with no CMC with the right set of wheels specs and a really good alignment shop willing to put in the work. :)

When people state just "285" do you understand, you are only referring to the width of the tire? Without both the aspect ratio and rim diameter the "285" becomes pointless.

Yea but there aren't really any 285s that are smaller than about 32.75 inches, almost 33s.. around 33 inches diameter, assuming they aren't skinnies, you're going to start rubbing

A lot more $$$ than can mount chop haha. Does is affect turning radius the way you have it set up?

Yet we all know what it means

not a lot of folks trying to run 285/45r22 on their Tacos (which would also rub)

As I stated in my first reply my 285/75/17's don't rub and they are 33.9/33.5 with trucks weight on them. But with tire sizes 16" vs 17" rim have 1" of difference as well as a 70 vs a 75 aspect ratio in a 285 will also have an inch difference in diameter. Both having a significant impact on weather one will rub if the best approach is not taken.

@01 dhrracer , the "Tacoma 05-15 Lower Arm Pivots" you posted looks pretty amazing! It is something that I'm fairly interested in but you know what they say about if it too good to be true...

I know it shouldn't matter but do you mind sharing what year Tacoma you installed it on?
Any thoughts or words of wisdom on the installation?

You're not rubbing on 34s.. you also have a completely different setup at the LCAs that most people don't have That's great and it works for you

I didn't say OP will rub at 285s. I said it starts around the 285 range

My vote is for cab mount relocate. Several companies offer them now . Then as the “tacomaworld effect “ gradually takes hold of you and your wallet as you go from 33’s to 35’s to 37’s you’ve only spent money once on the cab mount……

Hey hey hey!!! We don't all go from 33's to 35's to 37's... I did recently go from CMC to CMR and 35's though. :spending:
