    A few.
Thats great! Does ur Tacoma have any of the quirks some 2019s have had, like howling under light throttle around 50mph, shaking when hitting breaks going downhill, shudder under light throttle between 40-50 mph, etc?

No secrets - I take care of our equipment - this truck included. Like I said I have this and all of our vehicles dealer serviced. I do have my oil changed every 5K miles - not necessary but something Ive done all my life.

I've had bit of the shaking when braking - not too much that I noticed. I do go up and down small mountains daily and I have the cruise set - but nothing big. I did feel shaking recently but my brakes actually were in need of changing. As for the howling - I do not hear it, but I'm old (Boomer gen here) and my hearing is horrific. I'm actually not very in tune/sensitive to many of the quirks - meaning they may be there but I would not notice...I spend a lot of time on a horse so a rough ride to me is not uncommon.

How do you like the BFGoodrich tires on the Tacoma? What size do you have on there?

Since you do a lot of mixed driving in both road and dirt roads, your input is valuable for a couple of us making next tire decisions.

    :)

ive taken a few other vehicles past 200k but they honestly start getting expensive past 170k miles. im sure age of the vehicle has something to do with that also

I’ve kept a few vehicles a long time…I have a 2005 Tahoe that I bought in 2006 with 17k miles on it. I passed it on to my son, then a daughter. It has around 200k. It’s had a few issues but we maintain it religiously as well. My wife buys a new vehicle every few years (her current daily is the green 4Runner pictured). As for keeping cars a long time, I agree over a certain mileage they will certainly cost more to maintain. However with most new vehicles costing between 45-100+ the cost of maintenance is secondary to comfort and peace of mind (unless you buy a Range Rover- which I’ve done).

I keep vehicles a long time, my wife doesn’t…she’s very pretty and I’m shallow so I happily write a check. Plus we’ve been married 30+ years so we understand one another.

I think cars are a waste of money…just a depreciating asset. If I’m throwing away money it’s on buying horses…if I’m investing I buy land (usually).

I love the KO2s. 26575r 16 is the size on
My truck. I keep them on my sons 2002 also. His truck is lifted and he runs 33s. I had the dealership put them on my wife’s 4Runner when she picked it up.

I’m not an aggressive driver. There are better tires if you are…in the rain the tires are good not great. On the snow they’ve been good but we don’t get a lot of snow. They are great around our property. The tire wears well and rides nice on the road. I’ll continue buying these. To me they are like the Tacoma…not great at everything but very good at the things I need…that’s a great value…that’s what I look for in most things.

My ‘08 Tacoma Sport had 350k on it when I totaled it 2 years ago. I’d still have it if not for that. Toyota makes a quality vehicle.

I’ve had ko2’s on my Tacoma, 4Runner and my tundra. The tundra is eating them quickly IMO. 40k km and worn down more than I expected. I think the light weight of the Tacoma and 4Runner and maybe lack of power helps the tires last a lot longer. My experience

There you have it, 10k oil change nazi’s, a proven success oil change regime! :D

I do the annual, usually less than 5K. My first change was around 3k.

This is good to hear as i just turned 80k on my 3rd gen. I had my supercharger installed at 65k, so hearing these motors last makes me feel good about my investment. It wasnt a big gamble though, being a toyota, lol

Be careful, they will be coming for you. OCI nazi’s get REAL offended. They oftentimes say, “it’s your money”, but get so frazzled they are compelled to pound on their keyboard.

thanks for posting this, it's good to hear there's potential. :)

as for the OCI, toyota recommends both 5K and 10K. it depends on your use, and it sounds like the OP falls into the 5K category at least some of the time. when in doubt, err on the side of caution which the OP has done.

Don’t forget the “or 6 months” “or 12 months” part should the time interval occur first. I don’t know why but peeps always seem to leave that part out. Here’s the full details of what Toyota actually recommends:

me too - it depends if I'm going to be going out of town...I just changed mine and it had only been 2700 miles but I was near our dealership and knew I'd be visiting folks during Christmas.
