Loving all the manual mania here, and grateful for Toyota to still be building them. The guy at the dealer doing the Toyota connect app with me got in the truck and said, holy cow it's a unicorn. Driving should be fun, not autonomous. TW is daunting, so much information here it's great!

Yup. Then years later when my bill was looking much more aggressive I called the guy and asked if we could swap back and he said he had literally sold the truck like 3 weeks before. In his defense his truck was on 35s and the scoop looked really good on it.

The Toyota app isn't terribly useful for MTs. The real useful things in there, remote starting and remote locking/unlocking doors, isn't available with MTs. I think about all you can do is check your fuel level. I installed it and looked at it once and haven't really bothered since.

Agreed; the app was useful while my Tacoma was being shipped from Guanajuato to New Hamster as I was able to see activity each time it moved. Since I took delivery in October I tried to use it a few times and felt it was worthless.

In all fairness, the connect app is for the kind of people who drive the RAV4 prime or the venza. And his vehicles come out with the MY-23. That connect out becomes ridiculously useful. That being said, tacos and forerunners are cavemen technology in comparison to everything else in the current stable.

None of the guys I wheel with who have ATs use their MTS or crawl control. In 4Lo you are your own crawl control, and with the locker and ATRAC, I've never had any issues (and I do a lot of wheeling and rock crawling).

The MTS is trick when you need to back uphill on a trail to get turned around because it's too skinny where you're at.

Had the same problem yesterday morning, very hard to press the clutch, and when I started the engine, there was a very strange sound, like some sort of hum. Not sure if it was related to the clutch (truck didn't try to move or anything,) but didn't hear the noise until I started it on this very cold morning.

Normal for a 2GR. As long as it doesn't persist.

Driving on I-80 near Wells NV the other day, temps dropped from -10c to -25c.
Clutch got progressively harder to press until temps "warmed" back up to just below freezing.
First time I've experienced that on the move.
