I am on very good terms with all of the cops in the Township where I reside, including the one who pulled me over for rolling a stop sign about a mile from my house in October 2020; I ended up making a friend and not getting a ticket.

My chumminess with the local cops is probably part of the reason they look the other way when I turn my truck into a rolling Christmas tree...

I still haven't 100% figured it out, but I think it's because I unwittingly do certain things without realizing it, which is part of having autism; I have gotten a lot better in the last decade or so, but I think that my body language still triggers people, especially if they were already in a bad mood prior me encountering them.

“Trouble is what you make of it”

Maybe I don’t see enough into things to be bothered by a lot.
Or maybe I don’t care enough?

I would say, on the whole. I get along with most everyone.
My biggest problem is other people not liking who I get along with.
It’s like I have to choose sides or something.
Just because you don’t like someone, doesn’t mean I don’t have too?

I dunno, i think sometimes people want to mess with someone just to see what they can get away with.

I havent been any fist fight as an adult but Ive come close a few times. Mostly ends up me yelling at someone.

A perfect example of encountering assholes before having tinted windows would be this one time in either 2014 or 2015 when I was driving to a large cruise night in Morrisville; I'm guessing it was 2015 because I seem to remember going there after work at Puck, and I got that job in late 2014...

Anyway, I was on Route 1 in the left lane, and I came up on this rusted-out shitbox early 2001-2004ish Dodge Dakota crew cab. It was dark green and had one front fender of a different color, and it literally looked it would fall apart if it hit a pothole; I encounter left lane campers on a regular basis, and I just pass them in the right lane if it safe to do so...

I went into the right lane and attempted to pass the shitbox Dodge Dakota, and the Dakota sped up so I couldn't pass and get in front...

Okay, whatever; I was forced to get back in the left lane behind the Dakota, which promptly slowed back down.

We did this highway dance two or three or more times; I would attempt to pass the Dakota in the right lane, the Dakota would speed up so I couldn't pass, and I would be forced to get back into the left lane behind the Dakota. The Dakota would when slow down below the speed limit...

    :annoyed:

The reason I wasn't able to pass the assholes in the Dakota the first three times is because there was a lot of rush hour traffic and I could floor it in the right lane. Finally, I saw a Walmart semi truck in the right lane, and nothing but wide open road in front of the semi; I made sure there was enough space so I wouldn't cut off the semi, and then I got into the right lane and floored it.

As I passed the Dakota the passenger, not wearing his seatbelt, hung his entire upper body out the window and flipped me off; I was just going to ignore the guys, but after several miles of them repeatedly purposely keeping me from passing, I lost my temper. I cut them off, flung my rear slider open, and gave them the one-finger salute right back.

Keep in mind that these assholes purposely tried to keep from passing three times, then one of them flipped me off for no reason when I finally did find an opening and pass them. The only reason I wanted to pass them is because they would slow down as soon I got back behind them.

    Ahem!!!

But yes I hate the city driving

I'm torn between that and forced castration. This would also hold true if someone made a false accusation and it was proven to be such.

That's what I think happened with the two textbook examples of white trash in the shitty green Dodge Dakota. These guys were probably about my age at oldest, and more than likely a little younger. They were very rednecky, and their truck was the biggest pile of shit I'd seen on a public road in a very long time; I'll never know why they were going out of their way to mess with me, but I think they fact that I was driving a mint Japanese truck and didn't like I'd just gotten off work at a meth lab might have had something to do with it. They were driving a shitbox that likely had a rebuilt title, and they were very grungy-looking...

When I drove to meet Chris at Legal Seafood while I was in Massachusetts, some asshole in a Bentley convertible swerved out of the their lane and almost hit me head on; I was in my mom's Murano because the truck was back home getting fixed, so at least it would have been my mom's car getting totaled and not my truck...

I had more negative encounters than anything else when I would take pictures of any vehicle I thought was cool, even if it was in a parking lot and not a car show. The problem is what Charlie thinks is a cool car is just a form of transportation to the owner; I had quite a few encounters between 2012 and 2016, all of which involved taking pictures of trucks, and some of them almost turned violent.

The confrontation to end all confrontations took place in the parking lot of my bank in May 2016, weeks after we moved into t the new house. I saw a mint GMC Sonoma with California plates in the parking lot of the bank; I see slammed and otherwise heavily customized Chevy and GMC trucks in car shows and out in the wild all the time, but to find a mint stock one in Pennsylvania is a rarity. The truck had a California plates and a DoD sticker in the window, and it was parked at Navy Federal Credit Union, so it was obviously someone in the military. I pulled up directly in front of the the truck, which was backed into a spot several rows from NFCU, and started snapping pictures of it with my Nikon.

Unfortunately, the owner came out of the bank at that exact moment and bellowed across the parking lot "Why are you taking pictures of my car?!?!" The next thing I knew, he was running across the parking lot and was maybe three feet from my Tacoma.

99.9% of the time I am able to diffuse vehicle owners long before they get as belligerent as the GMC owner did, but he was a dickhead right out of the gate. I explained that I was a huge fan of Chevy and GMC trucks, especially the S-series, and I was taking pictures of his truck because it was in such good shape. He was not having it, though he initially seemed to ponder it and cool off a bit; I had kept my truck in drive and a foot on the brake pedal, because I could just see that was going to go badly...

He initially turned away, but in a split second, he spun back around and demanded to see my camera. Like I was really about to hand over my $800 camera to this nutcase; I said "NO WAY!" and floored it. He yelled "get the fuck outta here then" and I ended up making an illegal left turn out of the parking lot to get away from this guy because I was afraid he would either run after me on foot or try to chase me down in his truck.

All because he caught me taking pictures of his truck, while sitting in a truck that was newer and a lot nicer than his, in broad daylight, in a fairly nice area; I believe that he was a combat veteran with PTSD.

After that, I stopped taking pictures in parking lots with my conspicuous SLR camera, and using my phone if I saw a vehicle I want pictures of. That was almost 7 years ago as of this post, and I haven't had an incident since; I also discovered that the guy actually lives here, because I saw his truck driving around here a couple times after that incident (not many GMC Sonomas with California plates in Pennsylvania)...

I'm not of those "Ow, my neck" scumbags; I will only file an injury claim if I'm actually injured, but I don't think that'll be easy, because three times when I was involved in an accident that wasn't my fault it took days or even weeks for the other party's insurance to contact me. When the drunk old man hit me in 2015, his insurance company couldn't reach him for like two weeks, and then ultimately refused to pay for damages to my truck when they finally did reach him because he stuck to his story that I ran a stop sign.
