Hmmm, I just checked that thread and found the post with no issues; it is three or four pages back from the current page.

I find it weird too that they are keeping the old engines like He said but was hoping if they kept the old power train that they would offer the old trans for a year or two if that was the case

This is from either the upcoming 2025 Tacoma or a 1962 Freightliner….

Because it was more fun to drive than the AT. That’s it. But yeah, if sucks in heavy traffic.

I knew the automatics were having issues, and felt that a manual was the better option. 156,000 miles on a '17 and still rolling right along. When it becomes unreliable as a daily driver, it'll be retired to weekend duty.

Been in Spain for about a month on business. Have yet to see an automatic transmission vehicle. Lots of stop and go, hills, narrow roads, luxury vehicles, economy vehicles, new, old, vans, buses, pickups are very rare, etc. What am I missing?

Yes, original clutch. Had 8 miles on it when I bought it. Did a full gearbox fluid change (trans, trsf. case, f/r diffs) I think @ 125,000 miles when I decided to keep it.

Here I am feeling bad about letting my boxes go 1 mile past 30k between changes and you’re going 4x as far.

Question for y’all… how quickly do you shift your trucks ? Let’s just say a race car is a 10/10 speed just hammering the gears and some sort of 1950s industrial equipment is like a 1/10 due to double clutching …

background: initially I thought nothing of it because I was breaking in the truck and being gentle… however when I tried to “hussle” the truck into anything past 4/10 it turns fairly rough… especially in gears 1-3… it’s like I have to drive this thing in slow motion.

it seems like with the immensely heavy flywheel and rev hang this thing really can’t be rushed at all… for if I go from the top of 3rd to 6th it seems like it’s almost 2 full Mississippis… until the revs drop down to 2500 from 6000

anyone else with the same experience ? Or am I doing something wrong here

I do valve float gear smashes. If there aren't dents on the inside of the case from teeth trying to escape... you aren't driving hard enough!!!

It's not a race car.. It won't shift quick. It will smooth out and shift better after some time.

Been driving manual shift autos and motorcycles for over 50 years. Release throttle, push clutch, change gear, release clutch, push throttle, repeat. Speed of change depends on situation. Slow driving = slow shifting. Fast driving = fast shifting. For motorcycles, rarely use clutch for shifting at higher speeds.

As for the clutch, years ago I bought an one-owner 99 4Runner with 5 speed, 4wd at 120k miles. It still had the original clutch at that time, but she was a very good driver, smooth AF when we did the test drive.

When I swapped it out with a Marlin Crawler 1200lb kit at 140k miles, they showed me the old clutch, easily could have gone another 20-30k miles.

    I absolutely love the 2.7 and 5spd 4WD combo.

I currently have both 2nd gen and 3rd gen, I daily drive my 08 SCLB 99% of the time on my 80-mile workday commute. Have no problem cruising at 90mph, avg 21mpg. Remember that 4 banger holds 6qt of oil, it's a very good thing.
