Anyone used AC "delete" drivebelt if there is such thing?

I am not yet serious about it but would like to maybe just experiment, considering how easy it is to re-install a drivebelt. Is it possible to buy a special, shorter, drivebelt for 1GR-FE that would simply bypass the AC compressor for engine efficiency and gas mileage? If I decide I did want the AC, I can just put the OEM back.

I've heard of people doing it with other vehicles, not sure about Tacoma.

Without the AC running nothing is spinning outside of the pully on some bearings (nill as far as hit on efficiency / mpg). I also dont believe there will be a straight shot from the crank to the alternator without the ac pump

Yes, I posted about it once before.
You need to bypass the ac/defrost auto-on.

I’ll see if I can find it later.

FWIW, there is no way in hell I’d go through the trouble just to improve mpg.
    If the compressor locks up…..maybe.

What does that have to do with it?

Nd4 already answered the question. Better mpg savings from deleting mechanical fan clutch (& maybe power steering hahaha)

I have no idea what it has to do with it?

I answered the part about the belt.
Which had absolutely nothing to do with OPs question I guess:rolleyes:

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
Due to the alternator location if you wanted to run a belt without a/c you’d need to remove the a/c compressor. The mr2 crowd does it with the 2gr swap. Similar belt layout (minus the p/s belt)

A more practical way to gain a little MPG is to use all synthetic fluids in your truck: engine, transmission, differentials, transfer case.

Although I use Mobil 1 or Castrol full-syn 5w-30 in my 4.0 Tundra, Toyota specs 0W-20---which does improve MPG a little bit.

And I swear by Valvoline Max-Life ATF. It works beautifully in the A750 transmission....even works like a dream in finicky older Honda transmissions!

I'm a Red-Line man for gear and transfer-case fluids, but Amsoil and others make excellent full-synthetics.

I like to double-up the anti-rattle springs on my Tundra's front disk brakes (use one at the top and bottom, not just the bottom), as they also act as a retract for the brake pads. If you're lucky this could gain you a tad in MPG.

Running all-terrain tires and/or larger-than-standard tires will hurt your MPG's (although they look damn good!).

giving that up would be more sacrificial than AC

Warning: this suggestion is brought to you by a arrogant "professional" that only wants to "keep you dependant on my expertise". Proceed with caution

just pull the mag clutch fuse and the compressor will become nothing more than a idler pulley

    It’s foampile.

Give him the information he needs and nothing else.
It will be easier for yourself and everyone else.

I don’t have anything against the guy.
He’s determined to do “what he wants to do” despite what others think.

If you notice, he didn’t ask what to do for better MPG. He asked if there was a smaller belt. - I posted the link to the belt.
What I did NOT do is offer advice. :D

You guys can keep giving him your advice, but I don’t think he cares for it.
He will put the smaller belt on before he listens to you.

I can’t say much. He did manage to rebuild his own engine. So  to him.
I’ve just learned to give him the information he seeks. And keep advice and opinions out of it. He doesn’t care.

I keep helping him because he has not managed to insult me enough to ignore.

The fuel savings is negligible because the only thing thats running is a disengaged AC clutch which at that point is just an idler bearing.
