The most common method around here is a used highboy style residential oil furnace, common sizes are between 75,000 - 140,000 btu. Thermo Pride is perhaps the highest quality brand.

Also common are Miller mobile home furnaces, they are around 50,000 btu and have a smaller footprint. They are a down flow furnace so the heat blows out the bottom, this can be good or bad depending on your point of view. Many used Millers will have bad heat exchangers.

when you crash a machine and maintenance says 'band aid' then you try to run good parts on it and the results are super skewed. Oooof....:frusty::facepalm:
I feel pretty stupid on this one. I got overwhelmed trying to run the machine with two engineers harping at me about parts that are good, but inspection told me were bad. I start my program and it looks weird so I think maybe I loaded the wrong one, load the one we've been running all week which is the wrong one (I already had the right one) and the head slams a 1/2 endmill into my nearly 8" tall fixture in like 2 seconds. I didn't even have time to react except yell some unsavory things....

You aren't the first and won't be the last. Don't beat yourself up over it.

Rather than put you in the middle the engineers should work this out with the inspectors and then come to you with a specification or solution.

That is always a horrible feeling. I always get awful crashing a machine. It was usually on a job we had ran before and someone made a change without telling anyone else. Never fun.

This is going to be a mess shortly...

It is still raining and the temperature is already dropping. The driveway is on the north side so it gets about 9 minutes sun per day and is on both a grade and a slope. The compacted snow that didn't melt is going to be approximately five times slicker than snot.

    I ain't goin' nowhere today. ;)

Have you thought about radiant heat wall/ceiling panels?

He would need a bunch of those, only 1364 btus.

I installed a bunch of radiant drop in panels for suspended ceilings years ago, desk dwellers thought I was the best guy in the building when I turned them on for the first time.
They were very nice at a desk, like working in a gentle sunbeam without the light.

Any electric heater that plugs in (1500 watt) is good for a maximum of 5115 btu, that is all you can get out of a standard household circuit.

Well unless you throw some diesel in the mix

140K BTU's is plenty to warm everything up to work on the truck! :D

Diesel is almost $6.50/gallon here!

I have a jet engine heater down at the garage, works well but seems to be perpetually empty and I hate listening to it.

There is (finally) natural gas available down there, as the garage is almost 200 feet off the road with buried water and septic lines plus some pavement the install would be both difficult and expensive.
Then I would need a furnace too... :annoyed:

Where I lived before we hit natural gas before we hit water. About 60ft. Cracks in basement walls + gas water heater = Not much to come home to.

I'm left handed but been using right handed tools all my life. Got a left handed circular saw several years ago. I hated it. Gave it away and went back with the right handed saw.

I broke my left arm when I was three. Broke my left arm (bad, like pointing opposite direction) when I was six from a bike wreck.
Broke my left arm when I was seven while setting a distance record for jumping out of a swing during recess.
I say this because this is when you learn to write and fine motor skills. I can pretty much use either hand now. That really helped during my teens.
