Just wanted to give this post a shout out. After spending hours on here researching what I could fit on the 17" pro wheels with a bone stock suspension, this was the most thorough and confidence boosting post/write-up on the entire internet. I'll go the same route as you did with the trimming for peace of mind, because it's a TIGHT fit in there (third pic).

Here is 255/80 r17 Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws on a stock OR suspension

Yes with stock wheels. Where people get into trouble with rubbing is with different offsets that push the wheel further out. I am running 255/80/17 on 17x8 Rims with close to factory offset. I did have to remove front mud flaps. Never tried modifying them like some have. I have a 2" lift but ran them for 20,000 miles on stock suspension prior to that.

fwiw, and incase anyone was interested... the cooper st maxx 255/80/17 at 40 psi (no added siping or studs) are doing good in various snow and icy conditions so far... for this deep snow in the pic I had to put it in 4wHigh.... I tried just auto LSD -that would't do it.... cheers!

Your post is a little confusing. Did you try 4hi after auto-lsd (2wd) and before 4lo?

I could have sworn you said 4wLo, but it’s clearly 4wHigh in my quote. Either I misread it or you edited it right before I quoted it. Anyway, I’m glad you got out. In that much snow, I wouldn’t bother with 2hi.

I didn’t realize the at3w’s came in this size! I was debating getting 265/70/17 KO2’s on my stock 3rd gen but now this is looking more appealing…

Anyone running Rekgen mudflaps with this size?

yep -im running rekgens with 4mm offset wheels, 255/80/17 copper st maxx tires, and a lift (about 2.5" -2.8" in front and 2" in the back), and caster pushed out.... I had to do some melting of the plastic fender, bent the mudflaps a bit, and zip tied to hold it out of the way.... they major rubbed before melting and zip ties .... here is the after pic -i haven't rubbed at all ...... fwiw its worth -I found the mudflaps do nothing lol -but I like the looks

    Stock suspension, no lift.
Had to cut 2 little pieces of plastic off
    No rubbing at all!
    Very Happy with my decision!

This looks great. Not sure if you're planning on lifting but dare I say you dont need it, truck looks great + you got some more ground clearance. Wish I would've gone this route....

Any negative offset wheel experiences with this size tire?

    None (YET!)
+1 ... Looking at Nomad Convoy's 17x8.5 0's (which should be close to the 4 runner SEMA wheels IIRC). Would love to know if anyone has been off pavement with a similar setup and what kind of contact happened.

    - Gator ETX Soft Roll Up Tonneau - Clazzio black leather seats - Nitto Ridge Grappler 255 80 17 tires - Supreme Suspensions 2" and 1" lift
After 2 months of deliberation, I ordered 5 255 80 17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers (solid deal on Amazon with free shipping) and sticking with stock trd sport wheels. Should have researched a bit more but pulled the spare after ordering and found a 16” spare underneath. Will look for a 17” sport wheel on CL for a while before just buying a new 17” steelie. Will post some
Pics once I get everything mounted. Plan to stay on stock suspension.
