    Hi all,

This afternoon I left my house and drove around a 1/2 mile when my truck shifted extremely rough with a pretty good thump. Immediately the check engine light and trac control off light displayed. Every shift after was the same rough thump and had very little power. I limped the truck home and I’m planning to have it towed to the dealership Monday. It only has 58k miles on it and every maintenance item is up to date. Any one experience a similar problem? Any ideas what could be the culprit?
    Thanks!

Just curious, after irking and letting it sit, have you checked for any fluids under leaking down ?

Anytime you get a check engine light the engine and trans go into limp in. In the past few years this rough thump is normal. When you get the check engine light fixed and all codes cleared, it will go back to being smooth. Not necessarily a trans issue.

Good to know! Is there any harm in driving it to the dealer if it’s pretty close?

How close? 4 or 5 miles in town?

Drove my truck to the dealership Monday morning and it seemed to drive normally with no rough shifting but the check engine light was still on. They pulled the code and it was p032511 “knock sensor circuit short to ground”. They pulled the intake off to inspect the wiring and found no damage and measured the wires and found them and the sensor to be in working order. They cleared the code and attempted to recreate the error with some test drives and couldn’t get it to happen again. They asked if I might have put old gas in and told them only fresh gas from the pump.

I drove it 10 miles or so and everything seems fine… Props to the dealer seems like they did their best to find an issue and did not charge me for their time. Definitely not confidence inspiring since if it happens again further from home I’ll be in need of a tow.
