I hope there's some improvement. Don't got money to go buy me new coils. And idw to go to the hassle back to stock. Truck sitting at 2.5" front and 1.5" in the rear

Has anyone addressed the stiff ride when these are installed and a way to soften the ride? What spring rate are they? Do they eventually settle?

This may be similar to a 3rd gen but I have these installed on my 2nd gen. Eibach's website doesn't say what the spring rate on these coilovers are. I feel every little nook and cranny on the road. It feels like the whole front end is going to fall off the truck when I go over speed bumps. Is there something I did wrong during installation? Seems pretty straight forward. Is it my wheel set up (FJ steelies on 35s toyo open country m/ts)? I heard the springs are meant for those with weight up front. It rides pretty smooth on the highway but on the street its pretty stiff. I am running OME medium leaf springs on the rear with the eibach shocks. I am planning on running a front bumper by the end of the month or mid january. Maybe the extra weight will help.

Any insight on this set up would be appreciated.

I have spoken to a rep at eibach and he said that though they are listed for 3rd gen tacoma, they will work for 2nd gens as well. The reason why they are not listed on the website for 2nd gens is cause they have not been tested for that generation. Maybe 2nd gens would run a different spring rate.

600lb spring rate. 3rd gen trucks are heavier so without any weight up front you might be over sprung causing the harsh ride. I have a slimline bumper and synth line winch up front on my 3rd gen and they feel firm but good and nearly a perfect ride for a truck. I could imagine them being a little stiff with 400lbs or so less weight on them...

I figure the lack of weight is the issue. Good thing I am adding a bumper by mid January. Thanks for the feedback.

The stiff ride will be more to do with the shock valving. These shocks are digressive and with your lighter curb weight that would make them feel stiffer.

As for the spring, it supports the weight of the truck... if the spring rate was higher then it lifts the truck.. the spring rate really won't effect the ride unless the spring rate was really high.

Nope. I never heard anything back regarding the assemblies I sent back.

    The replacements have been better.

Well yeah they would kinda need to as they wanted the old ones.

What would I use in the mean time?

Alright, you made a point. I thought everyone who had the issue was being sent replacements..

How does the new coilover they sent you riding? Do you still have that harsh rebound issue?

Honestly it still appears to be present however not nearly as harsh as before.

I haven't adjust or messed with them at all, I just installed them as they were, out of the box. I do need to raise the driver's side slightly for lean.

What PSI are you running? Sounds counter intuitive but i increased my cold tire psi to 35 psi (from 30ish) and I noticed I feel less bumps and joints on the highway. Have no idea why this is but for me, it was noticeably better (at least in my head anyway!).

    Honestly, this!

I was running ~30 as thats what I had with the OEM setup. 35 PSI with wildpeaks is 10% more mpg and smoother. I chalked tested to see that I was low

Huh, very interesting. Did you install ur sway bar relocation block that was included in the box? Or did you delete the sway bar?

Yes. And I removed the sway bar after that as part of the troubleshooting process

Damn, well I guess that rids out a step of my yrouble shooting too. I wonder if other shocks such as kings, icon ec does the same exact thing.. not gon lie.. I miss my factory suspension. Rides like a cloud and does have that harsh rebound. Though there's times where it'll be too soft ofc. But thats better than too firm with the eibachs imo.

Man that’s really a shame that people are experiencing this issue. Mine have been perfect since day 1. Other than needing to crank the drivers side up 1/4” with what I’d consider a subpar spanner, mine have been fantastic so far. I can’t even imagine what would cause that on some trucks but not others in the manufacturing process.

I'm assuming something like too much or too little fluid in the shocks? I'm not sure.
The ride is amazing on road tbh. Definitely firm but in a good way. But once the road has nuts and cranny, like lil deformations and imperfections, it's a harsh stiff ride. Like to the point my dash and interior is going to rattle apart. And my rear end tryna swing. But other than that. Like I said on road it's amazing, not sure about offroad. And I do enjoy driving kinda quick on trails. And I agree, the spanner wrench provided gets the job, but it hurts the hand as its too thin, and the grip would always slip. That's why I just put on a extension on it like a breaker bar to gain more leverage. Was trying to find their 'updated' aluminum cnc spanner wrench. Couldn't find it online..

I was thinking possibly too little fluid, or possibly lower / wrong viscosity oil, considering the harshness is on the rebound. I’ve taken mine over some pretty rough stretches at 10 mph or so and no clanking or anything. I had 5100s on my T4R and they were firmer, but those would be a comparable IMO.

Exactly. And when you say comparable, did you mean the 5100s also have that harsh rebound too or?
