Tacoma Vs. Rivian

Same thing happened to me in my XJ on the street. I claimed that it just fell over too.

 

That guy definitely had a couple beers and went to go show off the new truck.

 

"...Ponds mentioned "being silly with it,"..."

 

Must of drove past a mirror and the truck caught a glimpse of it self on one of the cameras.

 

Must have been trying to do high speed donuts/drifting or it was Aliens.
It actually looks like the truck survived the rollover pretty well. It would still be drivable if it wasn’t bricked.

 

$75k into a Tacoma vs a stock Rivian. Even looks aside (Rivians are hideous), it’s not even fair to compare.

 

I know, right? The Tacoma will still be so slow.

 

Pavement, Tacoma loses. Trail, Rivian loses. Take your pick.

 

My experience so far shows the Rivian to be superior at both stock, which it definitely should be given the price.

My Rivian cost me $67k OTD after the federal tax credit. When you consider that I had roughly $52k into my Tacoma and hadn’t touched suspension, gears or lockers yet it’s really not much of a price difference.

 

Different strokes for different folks. What will really be interesting is if Rivian catches on as a platform to see more trail time and what the repair/aftermarket upgrade market looks like.

Keep us up to date as to how life is with your Rivian. Truly remarkable that we have such machines available touting robust capabilities from electric motors.

 

Are we really trying to pretend that a vehicle that doesn't even come with a spare tire is better than a Tacoma off road?

 

Or you could spend $40,000 on a Tacoma and still have another $35,000 to spend on something a bit quicker…

 

That is the perfect world but I don’t need/want/have room for more than one vehicle.

 

Yep. Not including the spare tire is a cheap way to make more money for the company. Since most people don’t off-road anyway regardless of truck brand purchased it’s not huge loss for most buyers. I’d bet half the people buying Rivians are getting street tire models and don’t know how to change a tire anyway. You can buy one, like I did.

 

The percentage of Rivian owners who would change their own tire is probably small. Having a spare is probably a good idea. Rivian is probably counting on people not being interested in a spare at all.

 

The Tacoma will look great with door dings from that yesteryear Subaru parked next to it. At that height, a proper pair of rock sliders would help a lot.

 

Having a spare tire is a minimum requirement for off roading. If it doesn't come with one stock, they aren't as capable as a Tacoma for that reason alone.

 

That’s definitely not how that works.
