Few shots from my trip last week. I've never been faced with such conflicting white-balance...did my best. So many of these have low image quality when viewing now - some look awful. maybe something happened in the jpg compression? I'll re-process and re-post later.

The most-famous view of Rothenburg ob der Tauber - bavaria. This pic looks soft on my monitor when viewing now...

    Great pics!

Fortunately for our family, we were able to visit Paris while being stationed at Ramstein AB, Germany. I also went TDY (Temporary Duty) to visit one of our OSI Detachments in Paris (I was the HQ Logistics Guy)

I'm retired USAF and worked at HQ/USAFE and while living there, we visited Neuschwanstein Castle and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Our daughters simply loved the European experience. Their mother is from Scotland but grew up in England (near Cambridge) so we have family there our daughters have visited.

While I was stationed in Italy we were able to visit Pisa, Cinque Terre, Florence and Rome...staying at Camp Darby.

Enjoy your time out there. I think Europe is such a great place to visit.

Thanks Ed! I lived in Kaiserslautern for five years (2015-2020) and near mainz for three years back in the 1900s. If it wasn't for that time I would not have taken this trip blind - the only place new i went was Leichtenstein - but my girlfriend got to experience so much. My last time in europe my daughter and son got a lot of countries added to their count! was great for them!

    Ahhhhh, K-Town!

My family was blessed to have lived there on military assignment. It gave us the opportunity to venture out and see new places tourists wouldn't normally visit.

Heidelberg & Bernkastel were our favorite places to frequent. My daughter just reminded me...she had a memory about her grandmother when we would visit Heidelberg. (Rest her soul)

There are so many stories the kids have...since they went to school overseas. (DoDs Germany & Italy)

It really is an undersold-aspect of Mil life, isn't it? We go from simple tourists to real travellers because of our dwell time. Was a great blessing! I'm just over the border here in MD from you - maybe I'll run into you on the trails - if I can find any! :)

    Agreed!

I spent 25 years active duty Air Force with 8 permanent assignments and several TDYs.

Trails? I'm sure there are in DE and MD...we just haven't found them!

Curious to know, how was the language barrier? How willing were they to speak English to you? Or did they sort of expect you to TRY speaking their languages?
