how come? A little bit wouldn’t hurt, I use only water cause windshield fluid is a grift, I’m sure a splash of some anti freeze in the reservoir wouldn’t hurt

I had a guy come in with a prius that put vinegar in the reservoir thinking it would unclog the lines. The vinegar ate both pumps, he was super pissed lol

Some parts of the world actually get cold and require windshield washer fluid that doesn’t freeze. That has nothing to do with an ice scraper. Shocker I know.

Use 93 octane most of the time it's cheaper than washer fluid.

That sounds like BS cause I use Vinegar/water mix all Summer with a dab of dish soap and it never affected the pumps or any other component of the windshield. just saying

Need a little pilot light on the nozzles to get the full ice melt effect.

Guy told me he put vinegar in. I found both pumps dead, replaced them and it was fixed

Did I miss something? Should I call the guy back right now and get you on the phone with him so you can explain what really happened?

Sorry but still sounds like BS cause I have been using the Vinegar/water solution for years and honestly never had problems. Maybe pure vinegar would dry up the pumps not sure but I would never use pure vinegar. just saying

I also want you to know that pure vinegar will dry up diaphragms in the pump and also builds up what they call clay. My mixture vinegar/water/dab of soap it lubricates, cleans the diaphragms. Does this make sense if so mention it to your friend if not then what can I say other than it works for me and cheaper than windshield washer fluid. just saying.

I guess, but a gallon jug of that stuff is like $3.00 bucks! But I do applaud your frugalness. :)

So another question regarding washer pumps, up here in PA it got to single digits below zero and now my washer isn’t spraying and checked today and I can squeeze the lines and fluid came out of the sprayers and the lines were fine but now I am not hearing the pump come on? Is there a way to jump the pump to see if it went bad? And are they still mounted under the cowl?, any wiring diagrams of instructions would be great? Don’t want to go to the dealer for this and can do it myself, just not sure of the wiring? Thanks

Thanks so much guys, it turned out to be a bad fuse that had such a small split I needed a microscope to see it after I tested the plug. Thanks again all good to go.
