    We're required to wear Cat II arc flash pants at all time. Company provides them and they're laundered for us.

    I have a problem with being on my knees (contrary to what people think :D) and have to sit my behind down to do some of the lower welding stuff. Some angles the slag off the welding rod falls down in the right spot. I have switched to a slightly higher shoe, but I could probably use a more boot type. The funny part is they don't require them or steel toes. I had some good shape metatarsals I had for my old job that I brought in a week ago, so maybe it'll help out. Not likely though.

    I got this little Toro 2 stroke snow thrower for the cost of a piston and rings a couple of years ago after my friend's mother put straight gas in it and seized it. It use it in little spots where I can't get the tractor like the front walkway. It actually moves snow like a champ! This is the second cleaning in 24 hrs. Our roads opened around lunchtime today after being closed for 48 hours. That's a first in the 15 years we've lived here.

    If you had not spent all those hours on your knees you would be fine!!

    Then learn to sit where the slag does not fall on your legs . For serious welding a damp cotton towel works wonders.

    First sentence... :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    Second... Yea, I've done some adjusting. Welding in the field is much different than something set up on a table. Gotta be a contortionist sometimes... o_O

    those 2-stroke toro's are tanks!

    through the last half of grade school and all of high school, my family routinely pulled those out of the garbage on the first snow. the fuel/oil mix generally fouled the plugs and people gave up on them. we'd put a new plug and fresh gas in them and they'd always fire right up. at one point we had 8 running, and another 10 for 'parts' and/or backup. none of them ever cost more than 1 new spark plug every year and the gas we ran through them. through various contacts, the family ended up doing snow clearing before school for a few local businesses. around high school, we passed the 'contracts' along to another family and donated all the snow blowers to anyone we knew that had a use for one as well as a few boys clubs for small engine maintenance/teardown practice.

    my mom still laughs that of all the things we complained about as kids-- going to events, or going to school, none of us ever once complained about getting up early to get to use the snow blowers to clear the businesses before heading into school!

    Off to chase coyotes again. Today is the first time we've had real snow, and we're coming off of a blizzard, so hopefully some are moving. Gonna be a skeleton crew though. :annoyed:
