I don't know about where you live. With all the claims from busted water pipes this weekend. I'd expect insurance rates to rise.

Yeah, CO insurance rates suck, probably due to the likelihood that living here for more than a few years means you’ll have an extensive hail damage claim paid out.

Makes sense. Seems like a $200 a month floor

The fact that the price of EV continues to rise, and the materials to make batteries are as difficult to obtain as they have ever been.

The negatives of BEV out weigh the positive.

I wouldn't ban the sale of EV or disparage the ownership or use of them, or the people who chose to drive them.

The price of everything is rising, it’s not limited to EVs. The exact same TRX I ordered less than a year ago is now $7k more. The base model price has gone up $14k in two years.

Wow! Is that normal for Colorado? I pay $260 a month for two cars, two drivers and our homeowners insurance.

Yeah, normal here unfortunately. As a I mentioned I think it’s due to the likelihood of insurance payouts for hail damage. Once every couple years entire towns of cars get totaled by large hailstorms.

This has been discussed many times here. If you have anything rechargeable we all 'fell for it'.

Have you seen how much the now discontinued Ram Classic regular cab has gone up in the past two years?

It still isn't near as much as an electric pick up. The 2023 Canyon AT4 well optioned is $70k, but the price to obtain an EV truck is out pacing inflation. The legacy automakers are spreading the cost around thru out their ICE products, that's good for their bottom line. That's not good for the start ups. If there wasn't the mandate for EV, the start ups would be better off, and the legacies wouldn't have to raise prices across their line up.

Its a nice feature for sure but seems very situational to use. Realistically you would have your house setup for generator backup to begin with, we have a Generac with natural gas thats setup right into the power panel.

Prices are only going up because are willing and able to pay them. That’s capitalism baby.
Don’t buy 100k Evs and prices will go down.

Resources are the only reason humans wage war, same reason animals fight for territory. Warmongering is a necessary evil.

That didn’t make EVs 100k. That’s just people able and willing to pay that. Evs used to be cheap… $199 leases for leaf and bmw i3s… before it became the next best thing to “save money” in a 75k model Y.

that market is getting tapped out and the oems know it.

Some of you guys pay way too much for insurance. I pay $900 overy six months for a new taco and two other vehicles in a metro area. And I think my area is too expensive and want to change residency pretty soon as I can figure the best way to meet legal requirements.

It helps that I like to buy a cheaper trim and aftermarket what I need. That lowers insurance and registration. An SR with gears and lockers is less expensive in total, is more capable, and saves money.

Seems you can't do that with an EV. At least not until they are relatively cheap (20 years?). Give me a 25k EV jimny

An old guy used to tell me, "Wars have only ever been fought for one of two reasons: real estate or religion. Except that deal with Helen of Troy, but that just proves the rule."

The expensive EV is barely more than my Tacoma. It’s the area, not the vehicle, that drives the cost here.

For shits and giggles I got a quote for a ‘22 SR - $1057 every six months for comparable coverage as my R1T.
