You require the TSS plate. You have Safety Sense.

Anyone have recommendations for aftermarket tss garnish? Thinking of going the pro grille route too.

I got the grille, garnish, and front camera mount all together from Taco Vinyl and am very happy with it. The install was smooth and no TSS error at all. If you order the grille and garnish, the garnish comes already installed with the grille.

I got mine from Madhornets.com. I got both their grill and garnish, for somewhere around $135, and i've had them on my truck now for getting close to 4 years.

Dang that’s a good deal too. I just don’t want to have tss issues so this is promising!

I recently put a Pro style grille on mine and had issues with the TSS. I narrowed it down to the garnish being the problem (aftermarket garnish that came with the grill). Seems to be hit or miss with those aftermarket garnishes. I figured it was related to the thickness of the garnish so I shaved some of the plastic off of the rear of the garnish and it seems to be working fine now.

I have not seen an issue regarding the TSS, that was the fault of the garnish yet. They are usually the fault of other issues. I got the one that came from madhornets, and it has had no problems. I can highly recommend madhornets.com. Now, having said all that, it depends too, on your year of Tacoma, since some of the newer ones come with front mounted cameras, so you will need the grill that has a place for that. That is a bigger issue than the garnish, to me at least!

The thing is, there are so many other issues that can affect the TSS system, such as simply one's windshield being dirty where the camera is at the top center of the windshield, or the garnish itself, being dirty. Of course, that is the simple and easy fix part of the problem. I drove across the country with mind, from california to VA and NC, and back when I had first gotten my 2019. It had performed just fine for the first six months when i was around here in CA. Then, about an hour or so of driving when I first left home heading east, all of a sudden the dang PCS OFF light came on in the instrument panel! So I was annoyed. Once I stopped at a rest area to pee, when I got back in, the light was off and everything was fine for about 15 minutes, when it came on again. This happened the whole time I was driving east from CA to VA, and then down to NC, for just over 2500 miles or so. Then, after spending my first night in NC on the outer banks, the next morning, when I got in the truck, the light was off of course, since I had just started the truck. But from then on, it has never come on again, and I now have right at 52,000 miles on the truck! When I got back, I had to take the truck in to the dealer for my 10,000 mile oil change, so it was then, that I complained to the dealer and told him of my experience with the TSS in driving across the country and having it not working for the entire journey heading east but working fine ever since. He then told me of its being a 'learning system", which is why it started working again, in NC. Still though, while it sure seems to be true, and I have heard that from other dealers and here on TW since then, in the numerous other threads about this, still, it seems to not be the best system if one has to drive all the way across the country for it to "learn" first! Another issue of course, is when one puts on the aftermarket or even an OEM TRD Pro grill, on another model, with the sensor in the middle of the grill, rather than at the bottom as it is on the TRD Pro, is the change in angle when connecting the sensor to the grill which would be at the bottom on the TRD Pro grill. Again, discussed many times here, with the solution being to install a thin washer at the top of the sensor, between the sensor and the body of the grill, so as to then angle the sensor facing a little more "up", thereby making it think it is at the OEM location in the center of the grill. But for me, the fact is, that i am still using the garnish that came with my TRD Pro grill, from madhornets with no problems.
