Appears to be a Xmas run on folks installing cheap LED bulbs in their 3rd gen headlights.

I hit every oncoming dumbass with my brights if they don't have the IQ to control their light splash on their low beams. They usually hit their brights back to make a point, which are generally the same brightness as their low beams. Am I an asshole for doing this? I don't think I am. Merry Christmas.

Same, and I have SSC3 pro aux high beams for them. Had a guy hit his high beams back and just as you say, little difference to high low beams. I returned with my high beams again, he hit his light bar. Again no difference from his low beams. Hopefully Amazon have him free shipping

I have a 2022. Will older 3rd gen LED leadlights still fit?

You mean from way back in 2020? Yes.

Assuming you mean the OEM LED.

They all require a harness as far as I know. 2016-2019 do for sure.

Not sure if this helps but I put the oem LEDs in my 2019 using a harness I bought from @daveeasa. Simple to install and a drastic improvement

Does anyone have any experience with the Diode Dynamics SL1 Low and High beam LED bulbs? They claim they are direct replacements for 2016-2023 Tacoma's for $200/pair. I understand they are not DOT compliant.

Not advised. They fail to even match stock performance. Review posted here.

This thread is one of the reasons I appreciate forums. I'm a dummy who didn't know about LEDs in the projector headlights, swapped mine out when I first got the truck, and now thanks to crash I have Phillips H9's on the way. I even plan to replace my fog pods after reading the fog light thread

I’m sure its been posted before but I couldn’t find it via search.

With the H9 bulb, has anyone had issues with it ever melting or causing issues to the harness? (Long term use)

Also do we have to adjust & lower our headlamps afterwards?

    Thanks in advance…

Projector has the cutoff, no adjustment for a bulb swap. You adjust for suspension changes as needed, ideally following

    https://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/aim/aim.html

The problems I’ve seen are limited to cheap adapter harnesses since the H9 and H11 connector is sealed (aka water resistant). If using an OEM H9 or H11 connector you should be fine. If the terminal is loose for some reason it can be de-pinned and tightened. I do that on my bench tester where I plug in hundreds of harnesses to test each one. A loose fitting connection should be visible as flicker at night though so you should see symptoms. Since there is so much space, it doesn’t hurt to check it out once in a while when you already have the hood up.

I have OEM H9 connectors available for purchase for precisely this reason. I find de-pining these pretty easy.

I greatly appreciate the info. I may just get an adaptor from you, (until Im able to upgrade to OEM LED headlights)

The free option works fine too, just pop out green center plastic.
