You still can get cheap EVs like that, they aren’t all high end luxury vehicles.

Insurance is based on drivers age, driving record and location. You just happen to be in a good place for good rates.

There’s a bit of a glitch in the newest software update, and towing gives me double the range now.

Type of vehicle matters as well. I recieved a notice once that my rate was increasing, when I called to find out why they said that my particular year and model vehicle has higher rate of payouts due to accidents. Despite another clean year of driving, another year of getting older and another year in the same place my rate went up because of the vehicle I owned.

In fact our rates go up every year.

Mine is actually coming down a bit every year, like $5-$10 but it's something.

I agree use is very situational. I look at it as a bonus feature that does come at a cost. I think an inline unit like the nat gas Generac is ideal, I don't have gas service even though it's all around the area. 2nd best option and my only option would buy an inline gasoline/diesel/propane unit and or a portable unit. The majority of institutions near by have diesel units as back ups for outages.

Really an EV has a while frunk that you could put a gas generator into. I think you could add a transmission and power the wheels too. In that case maybe you could lighten the truck by getting rid of the battery

You could but you may as well be driving a conventional vehicle at that point. The battery and it's weight is the EVs biggest down fall.

All kinds of people. Instead of just doing the smart thing and buying a cheap beater like I always used to drive I have bought and sold five vehicles in the last four years.

You can also buy a used 40k Land Rover …

Cheap new EVs other than the bolt and leaf don’t exist yet… but I’m willing to bet they are coming soon. As the high end begins to drop off

Lol. Part of the UI is fun screwups!

It’s okay. I still remember when fussy people “canceled” that sweet Prius baffled fuel cell for a conventional tank because the computer couldn’t quite figure out how much was left in reserve.

I have a gas generator, definitely is nice during the power outages.

I’d say you get a lot for your money, especially if you had an order in before March 2022 when the price went up. Now, not so much especially with potential changes to the federal tax credits.

Definitely good to have. Now that even the utility companies are projecting power outages to happen more often. The proposed ban on small gas engines is even more ridiculous.

People don't run small engines just for fun, there is some recreation use. It costs money to run a small engine, you need to buy and maintain the appliance and you need to purchase fuel to run it. People don't run generators of all things as a leisurely past time.

The ridiculous aspect of it all is people who think the government is going to solve anything through mandates lol.

I don't think we have many patent or intellectual property lawyers on this site, but if we do I'd hope they chime in. Whether or not they developed it shouldn't matter if they legally own the rights to that particular design. It's not like they stole it from the other company. Now THAT might be ironic...or hypocritical. If they paid good money for it then they deserve it to be unique to their brand.
