Good afternoon peeps! I got home an hour ago, luckily it looks like the power stayed on. I turned the thermostat down to 60° before I left for the GF's house, mostly to help stop the heat pump from running nonstop. ( I can't figure out why they call them heat pumps- they don't seem to be able to find any heat anywhere...) Now it's time to get the woodstove glowing orange and get some warmth back into this hut.
I got a gift that just keeps making me laugh- if anyone is a regular viewer of the YT channel 'AvE', you've seen Prudence the safety goat. Yup, I got one. Can't wait to take it to work so when someone annoys me, I can just make the goat scream instead of myself doing it!

I am off work friday - was thinking about doing an overnight somewhere in the hills of maryland-ish thursday night - because friday late I have to pick up my daughter from BWI, so basically arrive after dark, camp, hang out in the mountains until after dinner then head to the city to get her late night (lands about midnight). I'm looking at Green-something state park, but best I can tell it's all graded and smooth prius-friendly roads to the privative sites, that's no fun. Any other personal suggestions from the group? Can't be TOO heavy wheelin to get there because the bumper is still tied on with zipties - but I don't prefer normal state campgrounds

It's contingent upon getting my diesel heater replacement control and getting the heater up and running. Aint got time for cold-camping in the back of a pickup

Just go to Green Ridge State Forest. All the roads have been graded as of last year but this time of year is when they’re the most fun even if they’re designed to be “prius friendly” normally lol

Not a bad deal considering it's on 6acres with a in-law suite, pole barn & shed.

Needs only a little tidying and maybe some plumbing work in that one bathroom; but tons of potential!

Definitely looks nice for the price. And unlike me that's close to town. I prefer to be further from town but some people like the fact that stores, hospital & fire department is just a few minutes away.

The older I get the more I think about medivac costs :D

In my brain I'd have a cute Christmas Story type house in a small town, and 100 acres up on the mountain.

Not that it’ll help in WV… well if you’re close enough to Cumberland, MD, the State Police Medivac does not have any cost per flight. Thats paid for by taxes and registration fees.

They’ll occasionally pick up patients near the MD boarders.
The Cumberland medivac base is just inside the WV line too!

We have a helipad just down the road from me. Unfortunately it's been used a few times and it's always been a Md state police medivac.

It’s good to know they are around if needed. When I worked on those, I remember a lot of calls out in western MD were from atv accidents.

Afternoon MD. Looks awful lonely out there in the parking lot. Needs some action like doing something to the truck!

Wow that's pretty damn affordable, I would almost consider that. Definitely would need 4WD and AWD in the winter. However, my commute to work in Hagerstown is RT9 and that's a big nope!

Is route 9 bad/good in the winter? (I view the world in a way that makes massive snow-covered roads a very good thing)

Unless the snow is more than, what, 10" deep, a subaru with Blizzaks is neigh-unstoppable.

(Bus driver from Billy Madison voice = on) and I know...from personal experience.

    :D
