Everything LEGO thread!

I wonder if the stuffed shirts that were doubtlessly involved in the Lego project said no to the bandaged head figure. I bet I could fix it with a dab of white-out.

I had to look it up. I didn't realize that starry night was less than six months after the ear incident -while he was at the asylum and still probably feeling the subsequent infection.

Busy year. Went from cutting his ear, hospitalized, getting evicted from the yellow house, institutionalized, and still found time to make several of his most iconic works from December 1888 to June 89.

I, uh, played with Legos and ate leftovers today.

Anyone seen a for-sure-100%-going-to-happen-confirmation on the January 1 Blacktron GWP? I think I have my planned 1/1/23 purchases earmarked out to just over $200 and I'm reallllly hoping that's the threshold for it.

Man, a small set with the same blacktron stuff was in my childhood legos my parents gave away. Cool, but probably mostly cool because of weird nostalgia metrics.

 

Those nostalgia metrics have been big for them this year: galaxy explorer, forest hideaway, the castle stuff coming back. Rumor has it Bionicle is making a comeback in 2023 too, first in an early-year GWP and then later in actual sets.

 

Did somwone say Galaxy Explorer?

My 7 yo has been helping me build it. The retractable landing gear is cool. Overall it is very symmetrical, so we've been essentially each building 1/2 of the model, and he is as fast as I am, if not faster.

The way the angled wing edge assemblies are attached to the fuselage are giving me some new ideas for my MOC F4U fuselage.

 

Not to mention leading edges for a larger scale SR-71.

I'll have to rebuild 45 yo first gen Lego 487 Space Cruiser to display next to it.

Have to go into Boston today with my daughter. She wants to stop at some Lego exhibit called Art of the brick. Might have to post a page of pics.

 

I was already going to buy a couple of sets. Now I have a reason to split them up for more GWPs.

 

Just going to say wow! A lot of legos in this place. I post the print with the pictures in case you want to see how many legos are in it. I’ll star with his self portrait.
