Anyone have their new gear bags Super Pacific came out with? Can you share dimensions please? They are a little pricey, but it would be convenient to store some "always in the truck" gear in them out of the way. Trying to figure out how much stuff I can put in them. Thanks.

I've got the mesh one right next to me. It's approx 12x12x3.

@ncflyer Man those instructions and videos are awesome! I wish I had those when I had to take mine off and install. The seal is a tad to far inwards.... Thanks for posting!

Installed a Bedrug Mat today and I’m pretty happy with it so far! For the money this is pretty nice and went in super easy.

You're welcome. Got mine installed this week but seal was already on so no issues...so far. I can see light along bottom of the rear door seal, and reflection of all the traffic in front of me at night but minor issues and looking fwd to getting it dialed in.

Thanks for all who answered how to move your X1 to another truck.
The bulb sealer part is important info but taking off and putting back on seem to be the sticking points.

Thinking that you'd have to have access to or purchase something like the following: Are these available anywhere typically that you could go in and use them?
Where would you even start to look for something like this?
Is the hoist something that you could typically attach to 2x4 or 2x6 garage joists without pulling down your ceiling/roof?

Thinking that driving two Tacoma's to SP headquarters to move the X1 over would be a bit of a chore.

If you’re only moving this once, I’d just rent a gantry, or have some buddies over for a BBQ dinner.

I’ve been researching campers for several months and down to the two cheaper options: Gfc or this super pacific.

From my research it seems evident that the super pacific has slightly better use case and appears higher quality. The difference in price for me is about $3.5k but I want to get something long lasting:

    • Tent: super pacific tent looks more suitable for wet weather (I live in the PNW)
    • Camper frame: box frame construction with aerospace riveting. (Is it valid to suggest this is stronger / more durable than the gfc construction methods?
    • Bed length: with the 20” gap it looks easier for two people and keep an eye on things below.
    • Durability and quality control: I’ve read about a lot of issues with the gfc hinges and latches. Are these better on the super pacific?
    • Appearance/Aesthetic: subjective but the gfc does look more streamlined with the tapered frame.

At $13k its not a cheap option for adventure trips (also live in Canada). I am thinking I could get max 50 nights per year in it for climbing/biking/surfing trips. Do you think it’s worth it and worth spending the extra over a gfc? Is resale pretty good on these if I ever need to switch vehicle?

Plenty of context in this thread to answer your questions, but comments are below.

    • Tent: super pacific tent looks more suitable for wet weather (I live in the PNW) - Tent is made of sail material - durable, packable, and resistant to mildew. Can't compare to GFC as I haven't had both, but I believe GFC is glued together vs SP being stitched (could be wrong on that)
    • Camper frame: box frame construction with aerospace riveting. (Is it valid to suggest this is stronger / more durable than the gfc construction methods? Can't speak to scientific data here, but plenty of both GFC and SP have been wheeled hard without major incident.
    • Bed length: with the 20” gap it looks easier for two people and keep an eye on things below. Correct, and to me this is a huge upside of the SP vs moving bed panels for GFC access
    • Durability and quality control: I’ve read about a lot of issues with the gfc hinges and latches. Are these better on the super pacific? Yes. hard stop.
    • Appearance/Aesthetic: subjective but the gfc does look more streamlined with the tapered frame. Most likley not the best thread to get an opinion on looks, as most people here own SPs :) Look is subjective to the owner.

Thanks for your swift response. Appreciate this forum will have some bias but your points validate my thinking. It seems that you pay for what you get.

AND, SP doesn't take all your money up front and sit on it. 500 down, then you pay in parts as it moves along in production. WAY better option, at least when I was shopping that was a big deal to me. To pay all that up front to a company and wait a year or more? Kiss my ass, not happening. The way SP does payments and not taking all your cash up front was a big deal to me.

looks like SP changed up the deposit situation, but yea still better than paid all at once.

    My thoughts:
    • Tent: super pacific tent looks more suitable for wet weather (I live in the PNW) SP does get a bit of condensation in wet weather. The vents up top (sides/rear) help. Don't think GFC has those. It's manageable, I wipe down roof/walls with towels before putting the camper away. I'm sure any camper will have this issue.
    • Camper frame: box frame construction with aerospace riveting. (Is it valid to suggest this is stronger / more durable than the gfc construction methods? The GFC has angled bars that obstruct access to part of the side doors. SP does not. I use the side doors to access fridge/food/water since I carry moto on a hitch rack often which blocks the back. Would be a PITA to access with those bars, or I'd have to reconfigure - so you lose flexibility in design. Also found out this summer its easy to load/unload a MTB through the side window. Can't do that on a GFC. Something else - the SP is designed so the rear hatch does not cover the top of the tailgate (appears to be so for 3rd Gen only). So you can climb up the bumper/tailgate to get in the camper from outside without needing a ladder. GFC rear hatch covers the tailgate, so you either need a ladder or climb up top from inside, having to move a bed panel.
    • Bed length: with the 20” gap it looks easier for two people and keep an eye on things below. The added length of SP is awesome, and I'm not tall. I often leave one panel out while sleeping and use the other like a bedside table. Again, flexibility.
    • Durability and quality control: I’ve read about a lot of issues with the gfc hinges and latches. Are these better on the super pacific? Two years and everything has been solid so far for me.
    • Appearance/Aesthetic: subjective but the gfc does look more streamlined with the tapered frame.

Trucks2019, before I ordered my SP I looked long and hard at my neighbor’s V2 GFC. I am a bit long in the tooth compared to most here at 75 years young. I decided I didn’t want to be climbing up and down a ladder outside late at night in rain and snow to take care of business. If there is only one person sleeping in the GFC, the bed can be configured to climb in and out inside the camper, but if two people, you climb up and down a ladder outside. That was my primary reason for going with the SP.
I have now spent one season camping in it and so far it has worked well, not perfect, but well enough. Having owned nearly 3 dozen RVs, pickup campers, and trailers none are perfect for every trip. Everything is a compromise. When the wifey goes with me, we now tow a Casita behind the Tacoma and SP. keeps her happy so far. Still not the 29 ft Hitch Hiker II, nor Airstream, nor Thor motorhome, but all the basic old lady requirements.

I mainly fish and hunt out of mine, so it has been over some rough terrain and survived several days in snow conditions. So far no issues other than water intrusion at a car wash in the front corners.

Best of luck in your decision! Just know that none are perfect for every situation.

We had a small rainstorm in SoCal yesterday and I popped the tent open to see if there was any leakage. I found one spot in the center of the camper in front. It seemed like a small spot.

Anyone have this issue? My guess is since I’m parked on my driveway backed in maybe the channel flooded and it creeped in since it overflowed possible? The top of the exped was not wet, just the bottom.

Attached pic is the spot on the exped and pic of the front opened. Maybe also it needs a little rubber piece in between when closed?
