Might be an Idea. Would have to see if Pat is game to take his truck. Always want a buddy. But it would also eat the whole day.

I'm working on putting together a map. It shows all the BLM Campsites (red pins) and our proposed trails to this point (blue pins). We can use it to pick a kinda central camp spot.

@Stoney Ranger I marked the Hunters Canyon campsite with a purple pin on the map. Looks fine to me but it is listed as a group site with only 1 site available on the BLM website. Lets have 2 alternates just in case.

@pearing I was thinking about heading out on that friday also. Maybe doing an short trail in the morning then hitting the road. I'll list that as a tentative.

We'll just do poison spider and pick another trail for that day. I was half joking about having you guys do the other 2.

Looking at that map, Hunters Canyon was the flooded campground we passed every day. The sign must have washed away in the flood, so we couldn't know the campground name. Some picnic tables were buried to the top in mud/dirt. Too bad, this would have been #1 choice.

Here is a shot of our camp at The Ledges. Pic was taken early morning. We choose this site for the afternoon shade. I also found a vid of Fisher Towers.

Fisher Towers looks to be a little nicer site. At least it has greenery. To have a better chance of getting any site, I"ll plan on being in Moab early-mid Friday afternoon.

Horsethief is 12 miles from downtown. Fisher Towers is 24 miles. Supr4Lo, you make the call. Either one is O.K. pearing indicated he DGAF.

You mentioned going to town every couple of days for supplies. I'll need to get gas every day.

I haven't found any info about how many vehicles are allowed on a site.

We can stop in town everyday that's not an Issue. My truck drinks the gas too, plus I plan on showering throughout the week.

I'd be fine with Horsethief ( I'll put in in the info on first page) plenty of sites there. BLM site says campsites are limited to 2 vehicals (or 1 vehical with trailer) and 10 people.

Maybe once we can take the long canyon trail when going from town to our site or vice versa.

I put a pin in the site we used at Horsethief, it was nice. There was nothing behind us but desert. I put a pin in the site here Dropped pin (can see the sites in satellite view)

Few daytime pics from the site.

This is all coming together very nicely. I'll grab 2 sites when I get to Horsethief.

Cool! I'll pay you for 1 of them.

Still need to fill out the trail list, need a second for the 29th. The 30th we have nothing. And I'm thinking a short easy one for the morning of 31st before departing.

Keep your food receipts, I'll take care of the camping and the 1st few nights firewood. We'll settle up eventually.

Oh yeah, I can handle spice. I like hot, just not so hot that you can't taste what your eating. And I agree with Dave menu looks great!

Thoughts for breakfast? I would rather do hot breakfast every day due to the cold morning temps. Ave. lows are mid 30º's. Instant oatmeal is fine by me. Quick and easy.
Sausage and eggs would be good, but it takes more time to cook and clean up.

    Cereal works too.

Just noticed you changed the dates for Moab. I really need to keep up on these threads. The time works for me. If I can jump in that would be great. You guys have done some awesome planning. What can I do to contribute? Happy to bring my Blackstone to cook on. Sorry to be late to the party.

I am planning bacon and eggs of some sort. Sausage. Hard boiled eggs. Pancakes! We can try some Umpa-A spiced Indian hot cereal like cream of wheat (I love the stuff but it isn't for everyone). Oatmeal with some maple syrup=YUM! I don't mind cooking. I have a system and clean up goes pretty quick. Ohh, and coffee! Do either of you have coolers? Might need at least two for our crew. Water will be needed as well. I can carry 16 gallons, but that won't last too long with dishes. Assuming that if we are doing daily into town we can also get water.

    Yep.

    Yep.

    Glad to have you.

    Thank you.

Beer, whiskey, gas.... umm..er... what I mean is, keep any receipts and we'll settle up at camp.

I don't know what that is.

You're not late, we haven't gone yet. There's plenty of time.
