He was totally ok with screwing someone over, and then had to stop and meet the guy he screwed.

Double frustrating that its outside the warranty and I am guessing you didn't have an extended warranty on it.

He didn't screw anyone over..the dealer did by not giving the vehicle a once over prior to putting it up for sale.

No, like I said, raising an eyebrow as to what could be happening as these trucks start aging. Soo many variables.

Dumped the Tacoma, that's all it needed.
    Let’s split some hairs…

you were under the mileage requirement of your extended service plan/warranty.

seems that you had a lot of repairs on your truck. In all of those repairs, did the (a) dealership have the vehicle for more than a total of 4 days?

If so, call Toyota/the extended warranty company, and ask them to honor the warranty as you were not able to utilize the vehicle for xx days while it was held by a dealer for repairs.

I know this does not answer your question "What happened"; ut I strongly suggest changing the oil every 5000 miles (with synthetic) when you do get your truck repaired.
See following link on 2015 camry - engine experienced excessive wear from 10,000 mile oil changes.

Please let us know if you find out the answer on the metal pieces in the oil pan.

Look, anytime anyone buys anything, the golden rule “buyer beware” stands the test of time. Especially when buying something used, that someone no longer wants. And the only difference between new and used is that the new may have a written warranty.

I guess I’m just shocked how easily people are willing to screw others without a care. But I guess, what goes around-comes around.

All I’m saying is that anytime you buy something, you’re at risk for a loss.
Even if a seller has the best intentions and discloses everything they may know is wrong, there’s no guarantee that something else and unexpected won't go wrong.

When you buy a new product, the seller is willing to take a risk that the product will work and they won’t lose money making good on a warranty repair.
But on a used product, not so much, the risk is all yours.

I’ve seen this and thought this same thing once 10k on the dot was mentioned. But it’s not just 5k it’s time also *or every 6 months*

I didn’t start off doing that. Maybe 7.5k more/less or 1 year. Only have 27k on my 18 but will be following these guides going forward.

Our fire engines are 2k or every 6 months.

My Tacoma isn’t daily driven but I still follow every 6 months regardless of mileage (I never hit 5k in that time period)

The issue with fire trucks is they get started at 2am and run hard to the little old lady’s house for a difficulty breathing call. It idles for 20 minutes until medics arrive, package and transport. Then it rolls back to the barn. It’s a hard life.

I've always gone by the saying when buying used, ''your buying someone else's problems.''
