Or the same type of person who'd chop and lower a 1968 FJ40, and put a BMW V12 under the hood. Yes, I saw and took pictures of just such a vehicle at a car show in Fleetwood, PA last June. It was a beautiful abomination!

Along with two of the three games ordered. It's hard to believe that both of these came out for the PS2 almost twenty years ago, and I had both of them!

@PennSilverTaco FYI, Wegmans in Virginia has also done away with plastic bags. Seems to be a company wide initiative.
Yeah. But with that kind of mileage, it’s just an interesting decision.

People are going to start rebelling by stealing shopping baskets, like in New Jersey...

When you are using NJ as your case study, your argument is flawed

Good point. My uncle has been a cop in New Jersey for thirty years and he retires tomorrow. He is a lieutenant and being a former police officer guarantees him the privilege of carrying concealed when pretty much everyone wasn't in law enforcement cannot, but he and my aunt are leaving NJ sooner rather than later. I would never want to live in New Jersey, with the one possible exception being a shore house to use as a vacation home if I hit the lottery; Avalon and Cape May are particularly beautiful, but they're still in New Jersey, which is basically a miniaturized East Coast version of California. The biggest differences between California and New Jersey are that in California it is much easier to get a carry permit, and cars don't rust like they do in Jersey...

    @Just_A_Guy

I went to visit relatives in Northern California with my parents in March 2009, December 2010, January 2015, and October 2017 respectively; I was also in NorCal for a family reunion in August 2022. I seem to remember that even back in 2009, a boutique shop at the wharf in Monterey charged me five cents for a small brown paper bag. It was probably either 2015 or 2017 when I found out the hard way during a trip to the grocery store that plastic bags had been banned outright, and the Safeway that we went to was charging five or ten cents a bag for paper bag; I was overjoyed to discover that you could buy not only beer, but wine and hard liquor, at a supermarket in California. However, I actually got into an argument with the cashier not about the plastic bag ban, but why I had to pay for paper bags.

Wegmans, at least in Pennsylvania, is pulling this same shit. They charge five cents per paper bag. Fortunately, the township in which I reside has not outright banned plastic bags and every other grocery store within five miles of my house still has free plastic bags. Five cents is not a big deal if you get a few bags, but say you're having a huge gathering, or you have a large family but a small budget. Fifty bucks would result in $25 on top of the final cost of the food. 100 bags would be $50. Not everybody is going to bring reusable bags every time they go to the grocery store. Ban plastic bags, but don't charge for the goddamn paper ones!

You’re missing the point here. The purpose of banning plastic/charging for paper is to drive the consumer to make less waste. You can still get bags for a fee, but that fee drives you to use reusable bags.

If stores continue to give out unlimited disposable bags, we will never rid ourselves of unnecessary waste.

I can’t believe I am making this argument

My argument is that my family actually reuses the plastic bags and doesn't litter...

Then re-use the ones you pay 99 cents for :boink:

But in CA, they sell a higher quality plastic bag at checkouts for usually 10 cents. They are pretty nice.

Then they will just stop providing baskets.
Been there done that during Covid.

I reuse them, but not at the supermarket.
I repurpose mine as trash bags.

Huh? So they want to cut down on the use of plastic bags?
Yet they will sell them to you?…………. At a profit?

It makes sense monetarily, but not eco-friendly…….makes me question the motive.

I use the supermarket bags for trash bags and for cleaning the cat litterbox.

10 cents per disposable bag vs a dollar for nice reusable bag

The goal is to get people to continuously use the nicer bags, but provide a decent alternative that can also be re-used for 10 cents.

It’s not a perfect system, but the consumer is definitely less likely to abuse the nicer 10 cent plastic bags.

I’d have to say I probably use less bags than the average person.
I stuff as much as possible into one bag. I hate making multiple trips back and forth unloading the truck.
The day they start making me pay for bags, is the day I’ll start bringing in 2 large duffle bags.

A luggage bag with wheels sounds like better option.:D
As for the bread and eggs. I’ll keep those in my Disney Princess purse.
That way they don’t get squashed

This isn't about an about an issue that I've had on Facebook, but rather one that almost everybody on Facebook that I'm friends with has had at one point or another; I have been on Facebook for almsot 15 years (March 2008, I believe), and I have never been hacked. I've forgotten my password a few times and had to change it, but I've never been hacked. My neighbor got hacked three times over the span of month back in November, and specifically it was somebody posting a link to some phony miracle weight loss treatment (all three times), with pictures of a woman who clearly wasn't my neighbor; I only know because the hacker/spammer tagged me in the posts twice.
