This all seems normal procedure. Your card issuer will get their money back from TG.

Hopefully. CC Company reached out to both UPS and TG before making their decision. Just seems shady AF especially when TG files a claim for 80 some odd dollars more than what they were paid. Oh well. Whatever, I didn't lose anything other than time.

Were the parts on sale? They're probably claiming MSRP+shipping for some math magic

Not trying to give TG any credit at all, I hate how they've become towards customers.

But aren't they supposed to get refunded via shipping company, and with that, refund the customer?

Sure he got refunded via his CC company but I bet TG gets a chargeback so that money from the shipping company washes it out.

In the end, some random dude or chick got some free parts.

Yes, TG is supposed to do that but if they refused then doing the CC chargeback is an easier route than fighting their customer service or shipping for months lol

I purchased some PC parts once and getting a refund from the seller and shipping company was such a PITA that I wish I had done a chargeback but I paid with debit lolll never again

You could dispute a charge and win.

I got a $498 one time Dish Payment done from someone using my card info.

Didn't catch it until a week later so the transaction had fully processed. An hour after I had called my bank, I saw the deposit for the amount charged so I wasn't out not one penny.

Would work the same way if I had an issue with an actual purchase I made.

Be surprised how many banks actually want to protect their customers; they make money off of you anyway.

    100%.

The guy I had talked to at TG was a complete ass about the entire thing. He made it perfectly smug ass clear that unless UPS paid them out for their claim, I wasn't going to see a dime. I responded with I'd be presenting all of the tracking info scans and my conversations with TG to the CC co and it was a "do what you got to do" response. Asked to have his manager contact me and of course never received a call back.

Chargeback was the easiest and quickest route.

The karma factor pisses me off that they not only received my money but also are going to be paid out by UPS. Whether or not my cc company goes after them, I'll never know. I do know that as part of the cc company's investigation they did reach out to TG and UPS for additional info. So who knows.

They get charged back; they only receive money from UPS.

They don't keep the money you paid.

Credit card purchases can always be disputed, that's a Visa-Mastercard policy and is part of their agreement with vendors who use their services. I don't think that is always true with debit cards. Some banks/credit unions may offer that benefit on debit cards now as a "perk" over other banks. :notsure:

IMO, it is never wise to use your debit card on an online purchase as the money comes directly and immediately out of your checking account and you generally have fewer protections as a consumer.

My understanding with my visa debit card through my credit union has the same protection but certainly a more painful experience. A credit card is the only thing I use anymore, I don't think my debit is even active. When there is a dispute it is the CC money in limbo, not mine.

Agree there. Many years ago I used to use my debit card for just about everything and thankfully never was burned but it just doesn't offer the protection a CC has. These days I'm in a position where everything goes on the CC and is paid off that same cycle. Never see any interest charges and never will. The bank debit cards end up in the shredder. Usually its the Costco Visa just for the cash back certificates lol. I just switched over to iPhone and Apple has been sending me their Apple CC ads. I might do one of their cards, they do look pretty cool. hahaha

Never pay interest. Always pay off the balance each billing cycle. And if you time it right for a big purchase, you don't have to actually pay for that item for almost 60 days. :D

The only thing I use my debit card for it at their ATM.

Any of you welders have a handy chart or something of how to dial in your settings (amps, volts, inductance, CFM)?
eg: Too much splatter: do this/that, etc

Feel like my biggest issue has been just getting the right settings on a new piece.
