So a little update on the Trans shudder issue I've been dealing with. After 5 more qts of Valvoline and and a new filter(screen) a few weeks ago, I was still getting the shudder at random times. Not always in OD but the RPM range of the shudder was always the same. Around 1200 rpm.

Fast forward to last Thursday, I fueled up and went to pull out and it fell on its face. Dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I pulled over and pulled codes. I had a misfire on Cyl 3. Let it sit over the holidays. Did some trouble shooting and the misfire followed the coil. So I replaced the coil and have since put about 200 miles on it and no shudder since.

Maybe what I thought was trans shudder was a coil going bad. Who knows. Can a coil go bad over time?

Yep, coils can go bad and if it followed the coil then the coil is definitely the issue. I know on Hondas you can buy replacement parts for the coil. Might look into that if you don’t want to buy a new one. But you should be able to find a cheap used oem coil online

Coil has been replaced and it's running great. I was just unsure if a coil could go bad gradually over time. I thought a coil worked until it didn't work.

yes they can. I'd imagine the others will soon follow suit.

I've got a similar issue after driving mine again since it has sat for several months...

Yea im waiting for the others to give up. I'll be carrying a spare coil from now on until the rest eventually get replaced.

You got a trans shudder going on or a misfire?

i'm not sure what it is...it's like the trans wants to do a 2-3 shift but then studders and goes back into 2nd and takes off. it's not quite a misfire and not quite TC shudder. idk, just started recently.

it does need a very good tune up. no clue when the TB/WP was last replaced.
