You just bought a bronco at sticker and traded in 2 weeks?! What’s the back story here

 

Holy typo, let me fix my post above! I sound like I had a stroke.

I'm not 100% about it, because that's very, very rare. I mentioned it, in case you saw similar yourself. I remember last time (back in 2021) when I saw a change to December 2023, I didn't really trust it 100%. Ended up being confirmed on your end to be accurate, which shocked me that I even second guessed what I had seen at all.

I remember learning about the 550B Highlander Job 1 being November 2019 some 3 years before launch in 2016, which Toyota held firm to shockingly enough come 2019. Didn't move forward nor backwards. What did shock me was, the November 25, 2019 Job 1 I had seen in 2016, resulted in first deliveries in mid-December 2019. I expected first deliveries in January or Feb 2020.

This also happened with my 2019 discovery of the XK70 Tundra arriving in December 2021, despite the pandemic coming between that. It indeed arrived in showrooms in December 2021, something that makes wonder if Toyota forced launch of it at all costs. With the Sequoia, they delayed it as much as possible until this autumn, despite some earlier dates I had seen this year for Job 1.

I remember the Tacoma being August 2023 for a long time, until just about 1 year ago when it started appearing as December 2023 in some timelines. I still see outdated timelines reflecting August 2023, but it's obviously wrong. This new date, is the first of production dates showing November 2023, but it's somewhat 3rd party. I'm checking, but since it's such a fresh discovery no info yet.

Toyota seems to be in no rush regarding the 4Runner, but the heat seems to be on with the Tacoma. Feels like they're being oddly transparent about the whole deal on that, compared to other programs, especially that new Land Cruiser I almost considered a unicorn years back upon first hearing about it. The next generation 4Runner known to be July 2024 Job 1. The next generation Prado and Prado Hybrid are October 2023, as is the 2024 GX stated as October 2023 as well. TX appears to be July 2023 Job 1 and not September 2023 like I had seen previously. It's a doozy, because the Camry for example is showing up as March 2024.

While I agree turbo has advanced it has been around since the 80s but it is not more efficient using a 4cyl turbo than a na v6 or v6 to v8 same principle it's just a way to make an engine have the same power with less cylinders or displacement. The true efficient new technology is NA hybrid technology that's where you get economy and that is why the ford maverick hybrid is selling like hot cakes you cannot get one easily. That's what toyota should do IMHO.

 

I have a long term order for a Bronco that I’m still waiting to be filled. In the meantime a guy walked away from his order and dealer offered to me for MSRP. I took it although it wasn’t what I wanted Figured I’d make it work. The Sasquatch package even with a hard top has a lot of road noise. Too much to do Bluetooth calls with work at highway speeds. Toyota dealer traded me at 2k over MSRP and in Texas Taxes roll over ($3700) on trades. So I did the switch. Basically swapped a Badlands 4dr Sasquatch with 2.7 for a 23 Tundra Limited 4x4 even money. Plus got 10k for my 2006 crew cab Tundra 4x4.

 

I'd have zero issue with a turbo motor. Boosty noises in a truck would be a lot of fun.

I just wish (I know it's not happening, but neither is me in a Gen 4 anytime soon, hopefully...but I said that about the 3G) I could get a stick with the turbo motor. I'd get to relive my turbo Subaru days.

It is extremely hard to gather any information on Toyotas assembled in Japan, as if it's not even sold there, it means the Japanese media won't cover it either. "Western" automotive media knows next to nothing about these vehicles in development, until it shows up from inside commentary, which they lurk towards and comb through. In my case, an individual who rarely logs in here and post on other forums, but chats with me from time to time elsewhere knows about the 4Runner program in depth. I am careful with some of what I learn, but it holds up 90%. I learned about the 2023MY to 2024 MY delay back in May-June 2021, from him. (Back in 2020 it was due for MY 2023) Everything you've said is dead accurate. 100x easier to learn about anything Tacoma or Tundra, compared to the 4Runner or nameplates assembled only in Japan.

Nein, nein. He froze himself out and is not keyed into anything. He can deduce Toyota's product planning methods, but he is not on stream with anything currently going on. It's just sad, sad. Someone like him could've done very well, but threw all that way for publicity.

 

Getting a Tacoma with some balls would nice for once in 4 generations. But Toyota is not known for having cars/trucks with balls. So we shall see

 

300HP Is just a tad above what we have now, not worth the higher maintenance costs and long term reliability loss for me

 

Which source? I know about Hybrid Max, but not so much regular T24A being on offer. I don't believe the offerings will mirror the Tundra, as I've heard otherwise.

 

I don’t care for the hp. It can have 180hp for all I care like the ROW diesels, but it needs to have 300+ lb feet of torque. Preferably below 3000rpm.

The driveability of a minivan engine in a 4500# truck is lackluster.

I will gladly change my oil 2x as much to take care of the turbo. This tech has been around since 1905 nothing to cry about.

 

The torque curve of the turbo engine will make it feel much more powerful than the current V6. It will hit max torque at a relatively low RPM and stay flat till the upper RPM range.

 

I'd rather have a V-8

Thanks. It got to the point I had to use my AirPods to talk. I have a black Diamond with hard top and 2.7 on order. If I take that one I’ll add the sound proofing and 33 ATs instead of 35” MTs. But really hoping the 24 Tacoma has some back seat improvements (rear arm rest with cup holders, ac vents, higher platform, fold flat without removing headrest) over the Gen 3. My 23 Tundra is averaging around 15 in town and I’ve gotten over 20 on the highway. Averaging around 17 overall. It’s a very nice truck and the 23s seem to have fixed some of the 22 complaints (wind noise, turbo failures, and interior plastic creaks). The taco should get 10% to 15% higher fuel economy than the Tundra.

 

I have no idea. I'm not in the industry and have no insight into what transmission they will use. My guess is it will be based on an existing design found in other Toyota/Lexus vehicles.

My comments about the turbo 4 are just based on experience with other turbo engines.

 

Pretty sure TFL had a video about it 2 weeks ago...Toyota announced it ...I. assuming the t24a is a non hybrid 4cyl?
