Looking for some help. I have a 17 Tacoma that developed a low speed/rpm shutter and over the last few thousand miles it’s gotten noticeable worse. Tonight the cel light and trac light came on, the cel stays on but the trac light goes off then comes back on. Took it to have the codes pulled and it shows a p0128. I know the code is related to the cooling system thermostat/temp sensor. Can a bad temp sensor cause the shutter or are these two separate issues? Truck is a 3.5 with 108k miles never had any issues before. Thanks

Thanks I found that as well. I will check the thermostat in the morning. The shutter has me confused.

Might be, because it's not getting to operating temp, or bad signal to ecu.

The thermostat code is usually due to sensor failure rather than mechanical failure, but just the same it needs to be changed.

They are quite common, to the point where they are often backordered at the dealers.

I'm having the same issue with my own Tacoma, looking for a good video on how to check the ECT sensor, nothing in YouTube for a 3rd gen, any leads?

Thought I'd try here before starting a new post.
