This is what I do for some vinyl work in Inkscape. I could probably get work to approve me for illustrator access but I've never asked

If I didn't have access to my Adobe account through work I would 100% be looking at other photo/design programs instead, Adobe's subscription based model sucks. I mean I get why they did it but still. They had to put the kabosh on the rampant pirating of their software back when you could buy it outright. Plus they make way more money now.

    Alright, cool.

Seems to be common practice then.

My only recent experience was with Draftsight, and we were only given 1 or 2 dimensions and were supposed to draw everything from scratch.

Learned a lot especially with creating a radius, tangent, and scaling to size, etc.

I know I should just download Fusion 360 already but I'm putting it off until it's all here.

    Build a PC.

    Keep receipts.

Make company pay for it and explain how you "saved them money" versus Prebuilt.

Play Call of Duty during lunch.

    Win :burp:

Langmuir told me it'll "ship late next week" when I emailed them last week.

So, I expect an email with tracking number between tomorrow through Friday. Hopefully my ordering the machine torch holder doesn't hold it up since I added the option to "add with existing order".

I know I'll be silent on TW when putting it together; their instructions are simple (found online) but they jump back and forth a lot if you "have the XL" rail, or "got the water table" and "if you bought the THC Z axis" setup.

I opted for every option so I'll be going back and forth through the instruction manual :bananadead:

Don't worry about it bro, I took my whole setup out last weekend. Going to do what I should have done from the beginning and make both turbos fit up top. Fuck low mounts, never again.

I've only seen one low mount setup on a 5VZ in the wild and it looked like a nightmare to put in, looked like you'd have to yank the core support or engine to get hands on any of it.

Fusion 360 can be had for free, as long as you're making less than $1,000 in revenue annually.

If you're going to make money off of it, then you can buy a license or some shit.

Anyway, that's for creating your drawings and exporting your DXL file.

You can use Fusion 360 to generate your G code, or Sheetcam which apparently is really useful (for intricate parts) and modify parameters for piercing, cutting, start and stop, and whatever else.

Mach 3 is the standard "fire control" software that takes the G code that controls your torch in order to cut what you ask of it.

So yeah pretty much all the software is provided, and really you can opt to choose whatever software you're familiar with (or favor) to draw on.

I bought the laptop stand for the table so I'll have my extra laptop dedicated for cnc plasma stuff. But my neighbor did suggest "why not do your drawings on your gaming PC and take the file to the laptop" which is a great point to make.

My laptop is a Ryzen 5 and though I'm not sure how much memory the program takes to run, I'd like to have a fast PC when creating larger, more detailed parts.

Even going to hook up the TV I never use and have it set up as a secondary display/monitor

    @Yota X

And to answer your question about Mac? I'm sure it can...can't expect everyone to be a PC user.

I don't use Mac, won't use Mac, and never will

You'll have no issue running Fusion, might look into Gibbscam too though. I really liked it, but I was also programming 3 and 4 axis mills and live tooled lathes. I was just the backup guy though, my friend Matt is the real talent. I'd mostly make changes in G code by hand, you do it long enough you get a feel for that. Mach 3 is excellent control software, most of what I used was HAAS and Fanuc controllers so I know some of their special G functions and canned cycles but I know Mach has tons of helpful canned cycles too.
