Lemme talk with Rebecca this week and see what works, next weekend is Sofia's bday but I'll see if I can swing mid-Jan? Or did we want to do Feb so James could join? I think he said Feb anyway

Well that's good you guys were available to give her a good home.

And you're right, those are the worst. People give a kid a dog as a Christmas present fully expecting their 7-12 year old to commit to taking care of said dog. Huge commitment on the whole family and then bam...another good dog ends up at a shelter :(

anyone that gets a pet and then expects their young child to be the primary caretaker of it should never be allowed to get a pet in the first place, that's F'ed

Yeah but the "giver's" thought process is simpler than that really.

Child wants puppy, person gives puppy.

Person probably never had a dog so they're too ignorant to be bothered to learn what all is expected.

But yeah, it's way more common than you think unfortunately.

I don't know how Bronx ended up at a shelter when Stephanie got him, but Biscuit was part of a litter that was abandoned. Good thing her siblings were adopted the same day we got her (we got there early so we had first dibs).

Otherwise we would've wanted all 3 of them

Biscuit has been getting way better with new guests; she just sticks to me now versus wanting to jump up on people to say hi.

always kind of depressing doing a shelter visit even though I know it's for a good reason, particularly when we were looking because we needed a very specific mannered dog with a 3 year old around the house. Meant looking at a lot and having to say no or getting turned down by rescues because they don't want the liability, which got pretty discouraging after awhile.

I have to avoid the section where the cats are in the pet store when I go to get supplies, bums me out

I know I make fun of cats, but some cats made me want to say "I'd adopt that one"

    Sucks I'm allergic

But yeah seeing cats at the shelter sucks too

It's less Tacoma and more mod
It was rougher than I remember last time I went. Like damn, I really wish I had a more varied work schedule sometimes, might make it possible for me to adopt one of the bonded pairs of dogs, those ones all seemed so much more at ease in the shelters too cause they had each other.

It's been a long time since I've seen a pair; man that makes me want to look extra hard next time I'm out.
