This is day 2 of my truck not moving. I used it in the morning parked it and went to go grocery shopping and that quickly ended because i was stuck in my driveway. I thought it was my parking brake not releasing so I rocked my truck a little and tried to pull forward and my truck would bog down when releasing my clutch and would not move. I had my dad come over and look at it and he agrees that my parking brake is working properly and that it may have to do with my brake assembly, like a part rattling out of place or something in the driveline. We are jacking it up tonight to roll each tire an see if one is locked up. Has anyone had this happen to their truck or have any ideas on what try check?

No codes have popped up on my dash. We had a really bad freeze last week but it didn't make any noise that day or the days leading up to Sunday when it locked up, its Been in the low 40s at night recently and we tried working on it last night when I got off work and it was in the 50s by then.

UPDATE! put the truck up on Jack's and my passenger rear tire spins but driverside is locked up and clunks when trying to turn it, definitely not brakes thinking it could be axle or gears

Where do you hear the clunk? Where do you live? The cold in the NE has jacked up a lot of E-brakes.

Its sounds like it's at the end of the axle/behind the wheel. I live in PNW Oregon. My brakes seem fine as i can move my parking brake cable by hand and the wheel can move 6-8in before stopping an hearing the clunk and if it was a locked brake you wouldn't be able to move it at all. it's getting taken apart today so i will know mid day today.

Except for the part where it’s been above freezing and the wheel still won’t move.

ok, I cant figure out how to search my own threads... can an adult help here?

here is what you need to do.

go get a new drum and shoes with all the springs.

beat the fk out of the effing drum to get the piece of shit off
(you can try to loosen the shoes back with the adjuster, but they are probably stuck)

the tabs at the bottom of the shoes will stick out and contact the rotating drum, because the spring that holds them together rusts up and breaks off

after this happens a few times, the shoes get forced into the drum and lock in place.

So I got word that it was just my brake locking up. Didn't really get a clear explanation as to what the problem was, will be asking more when I pick it up. After having this happen should I be putting rear brakes and drums on my parts list? I was lucky enough to have it happen when it was parked an not on the freeway or backroads.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
In the least, I'd be putting "rear brake inspection" at the top of that list. Could have been a fluke, or it may be time for shoes, drums and wheel cylinders/hardware.

It can't exactly happen like that while the truck is rolling.

It's basically a water or rust issue. It won't lock up while driving and cause a wreck
