How to store tie-down straps

So I posted this in the 3rd Gen chat and it blew some peoples minds. When I learned how to do this I felt stupid for using rubber bands, velcro straps, throwing them in a bag to get tangled to all hell, etc. Figured this would be the best place to share this knowledge.

That’s how I’ve do mine for years. My ratchet kits come with velcro also to store them in an I included pouch

before that I always wrapped them up after use and still do now. Only takes a minute per strap

 

Nice. Thanks for posting. I usually just jame mine under the spare in bed. Then spend 10 minutes untangling them when I need them.

I was using broccoli rubber bands on the long coil and leaving the ratchets as is. This is a bit better to pair them up. Rubber bands tend to break anyway.

 

I have been rolling them up for years then they go in the bucket in the cab

I've always rolled mine. Fold the strap in half and start wrapping around the hook. Half the time of the above technique, but otherwise the same. The current ones have Velcro but before that I tucked the tail under itself.

Never tangles and it forces a quick inspection for frayed edges. Always replace the set when the first one starts showing its age.
