I put down a deposit for the same truck except automatic....The dealer couldn't tell me when they will get an allocation but thinks it will be within the next few months. Not sure what part of the country you are from but there are 5 or 6 Solar Octane manuals headed to the south east region. Most of the dealerships they are headed to add a market adjustment.

Does anyone know for sure IF the 2023 TRDOR bed has the pre-drilled and tapped holes underneath the plastic trim piece? I looked at a 2023 at dealer and the holes across the front bed rail (under back window) are there. It makes me think they should be on the side rails as well. I have the Tacoma hard cover from my 2016. If I buy a 2023 I would like to use it on the new one. I guess I would have to swap the plastic trim pieces out from current truck to new one to have the hardware and cutouts to accommodate the latches. It’s my understanding Toyota doesn’t still offer the trifold hard cover like I got in 2016. I really like that cover.

I am wondering the same thing, for the same reason except that my tonneau is off of my 2021 TRD OR which was totaled, and I want to put it on the 2023 TRD Pro that I have coming in about a week or so. I am particularly worried about the TRD Pro vs. the OR, because the TRD Pro has embossed side panels which may make a different part altogether and therefore not have the tapped holes. I will inform this thread as soon as I take delivery. I have my old tonneau, all hardware and the plastic trim with cutouts so it will be a simple installation if the pre-drilled and tapped holes are there.

My 2023 TRDOR came with the OEM tri-fold hard cover that says "TACOMA," just like the ones pictured in this thread. It was a factory (not dealer or port/distributor) installed option.

Thanks Gasper Goo. An “experience guide” (salesman) told me it was not available and was replaced with a different design? Couldn’t show it to me though. Why would they change it if it works great? That tells me I can swap it but I would have to buy new Tacoma before selling my 2016. I dread pulling those plastic bed-top pieces off. Seems like the plastic fingers would break? I saw a guy on Utube do it and it went well. He swapped from one Tacoma to another like I would want to do.

On the Toyota website, if you build one, it does appear that the tonneau cover has been changed. Just hope it still uses the same mounting points.

Does anyone know the best way to cut out the slots from the plastic bed rail caps , to allow for the Toyota factory latches that are attached using the 2 bolts in those threaded bosses? A razor knife? Possibly a dremel tool?

I don't understand what you're asking; can you rephrase the question?

If you look at a Gen 3 with the factory trifold tonneau cover, there are 3 “post type” latches on each side that are secured by 2 bolts. The top of the bed sides has a black plastic trim piece that turns down over the rail. You have to cut a rectangular opening into that plastic trim piece to allow the plate to attach to the truck bed with those 2 bolts. The plastic trim piece on my 2016 was cut somehow. Very clean job. If I keep my 2016 trifold tonneau cover, and install on a 2023, I will have to make those cuts. How do you do that? What tool?

I took delivery of my 2023 Solar Octane TRD Pro after an 8 month wait since my 2021 TRD OR was totalled. I saved my OEM tonneau and can verify that the mounting points were there and that it fits:

How did you cut the slots out of the black trim pieces on top of the bed rail?

In my case, when I saved my OEM tonneau off of my totaled 2021 TRD OR, I saved the OEM bedrails that were already cut-out, along with all of the hardware including the rubber grommets.
