Deer hunting BS thread

thats awesome, thanks! Giving me ideas to DIY a similar wood stand for my next buck harvest

 

I made this one with a piece of wood that washed down a creek in a flood and an old shock shaft

 

Sometimes simplicity is best!

 

One week left in my part of VA… I got the COVID for Christmas two years in a row… after 4 awesome years off deer hunting I’m down to the last week with zero deer. … bout to text my processor to let him know I’m interested in some meat if someone stands him up in a tab..

I put a 20 gallon bucket on top with a stepping stone to hold it down.

 

Oh and wood fire soot makes a pretty decent faux chocolate horn lol

I managed to put another one down. It ended up being a Buck tha had already shed. I saw a couple young ones in that area the other day with only one antler. Hell I thought it was a good size doe. Something funky going on with scope though the only thing I found was parallax was turned all the way up it must have been bumped or something. I was not happy with my shots and it usually only takes 1

 

Last day of Archery Season in the public ground watershed I hunt.
Heading out in a bit with the crossbow for a "nature walk".

2022 Season is done for me.
Got out for a few hours at least. Warm out esp with my wool.
Nothing seen, nobody around. Would have liked to spend a little more time in the woods, but around 8:30 the fog rolled in from the reservoir and I could no longer see the next stone walls. Needed a white cane to navigate the pee-soup fog back to the truck.
Now the long wait is on with Spring Turkey breaking it up.

Stone walls make great ground spots..
