Is there any particular reason why this boot doesn't create a better seal against the clutch fork? It seems like a likely spot for water ingress. Are there better sealing boot options or is this a necessary feature for cooling or something?

    Thanks all.

Yep, I get that. But what purpose do the vents serve and are they really necessary? I checked for replacement boots without the vent and better sealing against the fork. For instance, a 1981-1995 Toyota pickup boot looks like this. No vent and a perfect c-shaped cutout to match the shape of the fork.

I’m not positive but I think it’s to let the heat out

I figured that may be the case. A bit of air cooling for the clutch perhaps? I'll wait around and see if anyone else has any wisdom to share
